JBL Reimagines Personal Audio with the JBL Soundgear Around the Neck Wearable

One of the most curious announcements at CES 2017 comes from JBL and its "a hands-free and ear-free wireless sound solution to provide immersive audio around the neck". The new JBL Soundgear is, according to Harman, a new way of experiencing personal sound. Some of us that have been around for a while will have a feeling of "déjà vu" and for a good reason...

While truly wireless earbuds are still being perfected and for users demanding more than just 5 hours of music listening, the wireless neckband designs are still one of best available choices, a convenient and comfortable form factor. Sennheiser thinks so and, at CES 2017, introduced its new HD1 In-Ear Momentum Wireless with a unique "leather" neckband, high quality dynamic drivers and all the latest wireless technology, providing extended battery life.

LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its newest LG Tone Infinim (HBS-910) at CES 2016, updating the around-the-neck wireless headset with a slimmer more contemporary design, enhanced audio quality and convenience. The original design concept remains a reference for wireless headsets. Consumer availability in the United States will begin in February with key markets in Asia and Europe to follow soon after.
