AAVAA Expands Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) Technology for Smart Glasses

Canadian startup AAVAA is aggressively pursuing practical brain-computer interfaces (BCI) for assistive applications, and the company presented its unique headband form-factor at CES 2024 to industry acclaim. Now, AAVAA is announcing the launch of its technology for incorporating into "smart" glasses that can expand possibilities also for consumer applications and expand assistive form-factors.

AAVAA, a startup company based in Montreal, Canada, has announced the introduction of its brain-computer interface (BCI) technology in the form of the AAVAA Headband Accessibility Developer’s Kit. The software and headband hardware is able to detect and recognize intentional control movements, such as blinks and clicks of a tongue, paving the way for individuals with disabilities and those with mobility, speech and hearing impairments to gain control over their devices.

A wave of new developments promises to solve the most pressing need for people with milder hearing loss, allowing mass-market hearables to supplant Over-the-Counter (OTC) hearing aids with less stigma.
