Working together with Rohde & Schwarz, HEAD acoustics have created a test solution that was able to successfully verify the communication quality of 5G (VoNR)-capable devices. VoNR, or “Voice over 5G New Radio” is a call service which fully explores the capabilities in the SA architecture for 5G networks. Compared to other communication services, VoNR provides significantly lower latency and improved sound and picture quality, improving the calling experience.

Rohde & Schwarz is paving the way for research in the terahertz frequency range by demonstrating multi gigabit data transmission in the D-Band at 140 GHz. The German test and measurement specialist announced its R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyzers with optional internal 4 GHz, 6.4 GHz and 8.3 GHz analysis bandwidth, providing unmatched dynamic range and sensitivity. This new hardware option will be available soon from Rohde & Schwarz and will enable key new applications, including amplifier pre-distortion tests.

At the moment of release, these are the only T&M instruments that measure all specified RF tests up to Bluetooth LE 5.0 over the air, and are ready to support also the new LE Audio specification. This unique solution has already been submitted to the Bluetooth SIG for the specification of a new Bluetooth LE test mode.

At the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Rohde & Schwarz introduced new RF and audio multistandard test solutions for manufacturers of Bluetooth headsets and audio car kits, and added the enhanced VoLTE voice service codec to its R&S CMW500. The R&S CMW500 is the only test platform on the market to offer a one-instrument solution for testing all cellular and non-cellular standards and Bluetooth.
