Microchip Announces New Arm-Based PIC with Built-in Bluetooth Low Energy Connectivity

Microchip Technology introduced its first Arm Cortex-M4F-based PIC microcontroller (MCU) family that solves basic wireless connectivity design challenges by integrating Bluetooth Low Energy functionality directly into one of a system’s most basic components, supported by one of the industry’s most comprehensive developer ecosystems. Microchip's new PIC32CX-BZ2 MCU family is available in SoCs QFN packages and complete PCB modules and antenna.

Microchip Technology announced the new Explorer 16/32 Development Board for designing with 16-bit and 32-bit PIC microcontrollers. This new board is offered at a reduced cost from Microchip’s popular Explorer 16 Development Board and comes with an integrated programmer/debugger and several new features that address the latest embedded systems design needs. The board provides a flexible, convenient and easy-to-start tool while being backwards compatible to the classic Explorer 16 Board.

To ease the mobile computing industry’s transition to the new interface and lower-voltage designs, Microchip worked with Intel to create the first scalable family of devices to support both new Enhanced Serial Peripheral Interface (eSPI) and existing Low Pin Count (LPC) interface allowing designers to easily reuse IP across multiple x86 platforms.
