Genelec Introduces Large Size 8381A Point Source Main Monitor

As part of its 45th anniversary year, Genelec has unveiled the 8381A Smart Active Monitoring system, a flagship floor-standing Adaptive Point Source design. According to the company, the large 8381A monitor fuses "exceptional precision and envelopment with unrivaled LF control, huge headroom and high-resolution imaging." Designed for high end music recording, mastering and audiophile listening, the 8381A creates a free-standing full range monitoring solution that can intelligently adapt to any acoustic environment.

Multiple years in development, Genelec has now made its Aural ID software technology available in an easy-to-use plug-in format that any audio content creator and audio engineers will be able to load in their favorite DAW software. The Aural ID plug-in provides a more flexible purchasing model and integrates smoothly into every audio professional's workflow, delivering a more truthful, reliable and completely personalized headphone listening experience, for stereo to immersive audio content.

The new Genelec 1237A and 1238A Smart Active Monitors (SAM) are tri-amplified systems featuring AutoCal and GLM technologies and powerful Class D amplification. The 1237A and 1238A monitors feature on-board intelligence to automatically tune the frequency response to compensate for acoustical room influences, as well as achieving perfect alignment of levels and distance compensation at the listening position.
