ESS Technology announced the ES9068Q Low-Power Audiophile CODEC, its newest in a line of SABRE DACs designed for small desktop and portable applications with demanding audio specifications. As previously announced in May 2018, this is the first product to offer an integrated hardware MQA (Master Quality Authentication) renderer that makes MQA playback easy and cost efficient. This is also the first product in the series with CODEC capabilities; it features microphone support as well as stereo PDM inputs.

Pioneer Announces Roll-Out of MQA Support for Home Audio Products

Starting October 2018, certain Pioneer branded home audio products will receive a free firmware update enabling playback of MQA-encoded material. With support for both streaming audio, local file, and whole home audio, the Pioneer N-70AE and N-50AE family of network audio players can be used as the hub for all high quality audio pursuits. The NC-50 and NC-50 DAB are network audio players with a built-in CD player and stereo amplifier. MQA is working closely with Onkyo and Pioneer to bring playback support on more home audio products in the coming months.

Yamaha expanded its MusicCast multi-room audio ecosystem with the introduction of the XDA-QS5400RK and XDA-AMP5400RK MusicCast Multi-Room Streaming Amplifiers. This 4 Zone, 8 Channel, solution was specially designed for custom integration of whole home audio systems, featuring ICEpower amp modules and ESS converters inside. ESS Technology has announced that it will be launching versions of its popular SABRE audio DACs that feature integrated MQA rendering. This will enable easy implementation of MQA across a wide variety of applications, including more mobile devices. As MQA technology is becoming widely accepted as a standard for distributing high resolution files and streams across a variety of platforms, the new ESS chips will enable manufacturers to easily implement MQA support.
