Schiit Designs a USB Streaming Hub with Integrated CD Player

As always, Schiit Audio stirs up the world of home audio with its unique perspective of the hi-fidelity audio chain. This time, Schiit announced Urd, a complete re-invention of a CD player component, now designed as a hub for an entire modern digital audio system. It's basically a CD transport with USB output and digital outs, and a USB hub that can be connected to streamers and other digital sources using the company's Unison USB architecture - now updated for modern USB-C connectors (applause). Urd is available today, from $1299.

Merging Technologies announced the availability of Pyramix V.14, an update made to measure for the latest requirements that have suddenly been thrown to studios and producers all over the world. With music streaming services transitioning to spatial audio mixes in Dolby Atmos, and requiring both more original content and repurposing of existing recordings, Pyramix V.14 focuses on retaining the highest quality processes that the software is recognized for, while automating tasks as much as possible.

Autonomic Control added Murfie integration, providing another source of High-Resolution Audio content for the Mirage Music Players with access to cloud-based storage, apart from the most popular streaming music services. Murfie stores and converts physical media such as CDs and LPs for lossless and high-resolution streaming.

Daniel Weiss founded Weiss Engineering in 1985. The company designs and manufactures digital audio equipment for mastering studios. Daniel graduated in 1979 with a BSEE from the HTL Rapperswil. Joined the Studer Revox company in 1979 as an Electronics Engineer. There he worked on analog anti-aliasing filters, test signal generators, sampling frequency converters and digital audio processing for a two channel DASH recorder. He left Studer in 1984 to start Weiss Engineering. Daniel is a Fellow of the AES and a Member of the IEEE.
