Yamaha Launches New 4K UHD Surround Home Theater Integrated Packages

Yamaha unveiled the latest updates to its popular line of home-theater-in-a-box packages with the introduction of the YHT-4950U and YHT-5950U home theater systems. Featuring the most recent in 4K video and dynamic audio capabilities, the YHT-4950U and YHT-5950U are the perfect fit for aspiring-home theater enthusiasts looking to transform their living rooms into an immersive, 5.1-channel surround sound experience. The new YHT-5950U model supports Yamaha MusicCast technology and the latest streaming services with multi-room capabilities, as well as voice control from Siri, Google or Alexa.

Two updated Yamaha AV receivers anchor both systems, with each model including five speakers — right, left and center in front, plus right and left in the rear — a powered subwoofer and speaker wire to connect them to the AV receiver. The combination of speakers and technology means movie lovers can enjoy rich, high-performance sound with the system supporting full 4K Ultra HD with HDR10 (high dynamic range) and Dolby Vision video pass-through. Both AV receivers employs a discrete amp configuration and a low-jitter PLL circuit, which contributes to its excellent audio performance. Both systems are Bluetooth-enabled, allowing for seamless wireless music playback from smartphones, tablets and more.

“These latest models marry cutting-edge audio and video technologies with seamless connectivity and control features — all combined in a ready-to-assemble system,” said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. “No matter the setup that you’re looking to create, these two systems offer an enveloping true sound listening experience that will transform the way you enjoy movies and music at home.”

Both systems come equipped with an YPAO (Yamaha Parametric room Acoustic Optimizer) solution, allowing users to analyze the room acoustics and the system's reproduction, then precisely adjust various audio parameters to provide the best sound for the room. By placing the supplied microphone at the listening position and switching YPAO on, the system automatically tunes playback for optimum performance.

Both receivers offer 5.1-channel surround sound with 4K Ultra HD HDMI (4 in/1 out), HDR10 and Dolby Vision support, as well as Bluetooth streaming. The YHT-5950U integrated AV receiver takes music enjoyment one step further by including Yamaha MusicCast technology. This built-in functionality allows users to access the most popular music-streaming services over Wi-Fi — including Spotify, Apple Music via AirPlay 2, Pandora, SiriusXM Internet Radio, TIDAL, Deezer, Napster and Qobuz — all controlled by the free MusicCast app. MusicCast also provides the ability to listen throughout the home by connecting additional MusicCast wireless speakers and devices to the home Wi-Fi network.

In addition to featuring the latest streaming services, the YHT-5950U also supports voice control from Siri, Google or Alexa voice assistants. Apple AirPlay 2 support adds the ability to stream Apple Music and other streaming services from an iPhone, iPad, HomePod and Mac to multiple Yamaha devices and other AirPlay 2-enabled speakers. Voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google is available through connected devices.

The MusicCast capabilities of the YHT-5950U also supports the MusicCast Surround feature, providing system owners the option to replace the included wired rear speakers with wireless MusicCast 20 speakers to create a 5.1-channel setup with wireless rear surrounds.

The new Yamaha home theater systems will be available in July 2019 at the following prices: YHT-4950U ($499.95 MSRP) and YHT-5950U ($599.95 MSRP).
