Waves MaxxAudio Mobile Powers Stereo Speaker Sound on New Premium Phones From Motorola Mobility

Waves Audio has teamed up with Motorola Mobility (a Lenovo company) to bring mobile sound to the next level in the new Motorola edge premium smartphones. Recognizing that more people are looking for a better speaker sound experience from their phones, Motorola paired its latest bezel-less display with the largest stereo speakers available in a smartphone powered by Waves. The Waves MaxxAudio Mobile audio technology suite is already implemented in the Motorola best-in-class stereo speaker system of the latest Motorola edge+ phone.

With the most powerful stereo speakers ever designed into a smartphone (as Lenovo claims), the sound on the Motorola edge+ smartphone is taken to an extra level thanks to audio processing technology from Waves, and its MaxxAudio Mobile suite of advanced algorithms. The result, according to Waves, will surprise anyone who has the opportunity to try the new Motorola model, with the device delivering a "best-in-class experience that is impactful, balanced, and immersive."

The Waves MaxxAudio Mobile audio processing suite combines all the tricks in the business when it comes to tuning speakers, starting with the power of Psychoacoustic Bass, which extends bass response beyond the physical capabilities of the hardware, followed by MaxxTreble to augment high-frequency detail, and complemented with a layer of MaxxStereo, to widen the phone’s stereo image. Of course, depending on the specific types of content that the device plays, the suite also includes MaxxDialog, using a patented center-channel detection that provides more intelligible dialog in movies and videos, and MaxxVolume, to algorithmically smooths peaks and valleys to bring the full sound mix to the foreground.

Obviously, Waves MaxxAudio Mobile also automatically optimizes specific sound settings for music, videos, games, and voice, and the user interaction is also taken into account, with responsive tuning. This means that either in portrait or landscape use, MaxxAudio Mobile uses onboard sensor data to intelligently adjust for an optimal listening experience.

"The convergence of sleek designs with the growing need for exceptional sound on smartphones is the perfect storm for Waves technologies,” states Tomer Elbaz, EVP & GM, of the Waves Consumer division. "With Waves, the Motorola edge+ delivers a truly advanced sonic experience, and this is just the beginning of a collaboration between Motorola Mobility and Waves that will lead to new innovations in sound technology for premium phones.”

Beyond the Waves MaxxAudio Mobile technology, the edge+ was also precision tuned by Waves engineers to achieve its maximum sound quality. Both the Motorola edge and edge+ models come pre-tuned with settings for different types of content.

"Elevating the Motorola edge+ sound experience with Waves MaxxAudio Mobile technology truly aligns with our passion to deliver products that delight and connect with our customers,” says Jeff Snow, Product GM of Motorola.
