Waves Audio Offers New Waves VU Meter

November 27 2017, 03:00
Waves Audio is now shipping its highly realistic and accurate Waves VU Meter plug-in, featuring meter average levels to provide a well-balanced mix, and accurate ballistic response with smooth movement and fast refresh rate. The meter allows headroom calibration from 4 to 26 dB in a classic console VU meter design, helping users to achieve optimal levels, sufficient headroom and overall better results.

VU meters have been a proven industry standard for decades, across multiple musical genres and platforms, helping audio engineers to set proper recording levels and to mix with adequate headroom and a well-balanced gain structure.

With unparalleled smoothness and perfect ballistic response that equals the best hardware VU meters, the Waves VU Meter plugin helps users of computer based recording and DAW systems (Windows and Mac) to maintain proper gain staging for a clear and spacious mix. Users can load the Waves VU Meter on any or all the session tracks while recording, in order to make sure the recording levels are not too hot, or, the plug-in can be inserted on the master buss and pinned to the screen for a precise visual reference of overall mixing levels.

"Waves’ VU meter plugin will be extremely helpful for younger mixers as they learn how to build proper gain stage in their sessions. It will help them see things, like why their tracks are distorting, in ways that are hard to understand with just a DAW meter. For seasoned vets, it will bring a sense of familiarity while helping us keep track of what’s going on with our levels. I love the retro look, too!” commented Fabian Marasciullo, mixing engineer for artists such as Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, and others.

Jeff Juliano, mixing engineer for Dan+Shay, Chris Janson, Michael Ray, and Hunter Hayes, adds, “The Waves VU meter is ballistically spot on, reacting identically to my mastering-grade analog VU meters. Awesome!”
For a limited time, Waves is offering this brand new plugin for free!
