Ken Berger's team at VUE Audiotechnik continues to expand its product catalogue of refined sound reinforcement products for all applications, now introducing the new high-output, extended-range, hm-115 stage monitor, and the new e-351 full range nano speaker, a new compact installation in its e-Class Architectural Element Systems, which can be complemented with the es-269 ACM subwoofer. Rounding out the e-Class expansion is the V242 (2-input 4-zone) VUEDrive System Engine, designed specifically for use with e-Class systems.
Following a successful preview at the InfoComm 2018 show, VUE Audiotechnik introduced the hm-115 into its hm-Class of high definition stage monitoring systems. VUE's hm-115 is the latest addition to the brand's “No Compromises” family of world-renowned stage monitors from VUE Design Chief, Michael Adams. A design perfected and refined for more than three decades, the hm-115’s impressive lineage includes classic designs that have shared the stage with acts such as Toby Keith, Frank Santana, Boz Scaggs, Rage Against the Machine, Def Leppard, Brian Setzer, Gary Allan, Lenny Kravitz, Elvis Costello, and Lucinda Williams to just name a few.
Slotting perfectly between the hm-112 and hm-212 in both output and physical size, the new hm-115 is ideal for those who prefer a more compact design, but desire additional low-frequency extension. The hm-115’s footprint and transducer orientation is the direct descendent of classic monitors, and the hm-115 updates this legendary formula by taking full advantage of VUE’s most advanced technologies behind the company’s flagship h-Class systems. From its precise neodymium HF compression driver with 4” (100 mm) voice coil and Truextent beryllium diaphragm, to the companion rack-mount V4 VUEDrive Systems Engine with next-generation DSP capabilities, the hm-115 is a fully integrated, electro-acoustic monitoring system that "delivers unparalleled output and fidelity for the most demanding fold-back applications," as VUE describes it.
“If a speaker could have a pedigree, the hm-115 would be the loudspeaker equivalent of a thoroughbred,” remarks VUE CEO Ken Berger. “Mike Adams is responsible for some of the most widely-used and universally requested stage monitors in touring history. The hm-115, and the h-Class in general draw from Mike’s vast catalog and experience to bring a new performance standard to the stage in a familiar and well-established format.”
The hm-115 features full network monitoring and control via SystemVUE Software (Mac, Windows and iOS) and the enclosure is a very low-profile design in rugged birch ply-hardwood, finished with 12-layer coating Dura-Coat LX.
New e-351 Nano Coaxial Cube
The new e-351 Nano Coaxial Cube and the VUEDrive V242 Systems Engine join the e-352 to expand the line of exceptionally high output, high fidelity system for demanding installations. “Balancing SPL, size and fidelity is not easy,” explains Ken Berger. “Most compact speakers prioritize either output or sound quality. VUE e-Class is the result of a multi-year development effort to change that commonly accepted tradeoff. Thanks in large part to our work with beryllium, and the advancements we’ve made with DSP technology, the e-Class systems deliver both esoteric audiophile quality and professional sound pressure levels while being extremely elegant and compact," .
Like the larger e-352, the new e-351 Nano Coaxial Cube utilizes state-of-the-art materials and technology to achieve superior results. Onboard is a 3.5-inch woofer that combines a large, high-temperature voice coil with a neodymium magnet assembly for improved heat distribution and distortion-free operation across a broad frequency range. Coaxially mated to the woofer is a custom-designed, beryllium-infused, 25 mm compression tweeter. The tweeter’s horn is built through the pole-piece of the woofer’s powerful neodymium magnetic assembly. The unique coupling optimizes space while dramatically improving efficiency and high-frequency dispersion.
A precision-engineered passive crossover network is precisely mated to the e-Class drivers and optimized to work in concert with the specialized DSP in the new VUEDrive V242 Systems Engine. The rack-mount V242 has been engineered specifically for use with e-Class systems. Highly sophisticated DSP maximizes response accuracy while providing both maximum power transfer and transducer protection.
Drivers and crossover are housed in a compact and elegant die-cast aluminum enclosure that is significantly more rigid and resonant free than typical plastic designs. The aluminum enclosure also works as a highly efficient heat sink for onboard components, further enhancing e-Class efficiency. Finally, the aluminum is innately corrosion and moisture resistant, making the e-351 well suited for use outdoors and in harsh weather applications.
The resulting combination of transducers, crossover, DSP and cabinet allow the e-351 to deliver unprecedented fidelity with resonant free operation from 120 Hz to well above the range of the most discerning human ear (27 kHz). The e-351 also achieves peak sound pressure output above 112 dB SPL at one meter, in an enclosure measuring just 4.3 by 4.3 by 4.1 inches.
