Sonus faber and Maserati Boast Luxury and Innovation in New MC20 Spyder

Italian loudspeaker company Sonus faber continues its celebrated partnership with Italian luxury vehicle manufacturer Maserati, and recently showcased the brand new audio system integration implemented within the new Spyder MC20 Cielo. The audio system technology has been specifically optimized from the MC20 Coupé vehicle to fit the unique acoustic and positioning needs of the RHT cabin, adjusting the sound based on the car’s roof positioning to ensure the rider experiences the highest quality sound in any condition.
 
The Sonus faber High Premium 12-speaker audio system recognizes the MC20 Cielo configuration and adapts automatically in updating time-alignment, equalization, and sound levels, instinctively offering the best possible audio performance, in line with Sonus faber’s signature sound. The full sound system was expertly installed to achieve the natural sound that distinguishes Sonus faber audio products, compensating for all the challenges of a convertible car cabin, and enhancing the driving experience for a car which was never intended to be silent.

Detailing the 12-speaker audio system configuration for the MC20 Cielo, Sonus faber specified two tweeters on the door panel, two midrange speakers on the door panel, two woofers on the door panel, one midrange in the center dashboard, one tweeter in the center dashboard, two midranges in the rear, two tweeters in the rear.

"In the new MC20 Cielo, we developed two different tunings which are linked to the position of the capote," says Mario Passarelli, Sonus faber’s Manager of Research and Development. "In fact, when the capote is open, the cabin environment changes completely, and so does the acoustic perception of the passengers. Therefore, we adjusted multiple factors including the gain levels, timbrical balance and crossover filters to achieve a resulting sound replicating that of a live experience when the roof is open, and an enhanced immersive experience when the roof is closed – everything strictly in line with Sonus faber’s natural sound."
