Pro-Ject Expands True Balanced Experience in New Debut PRO B Turntable

August 19 2024, 00:35
Pro-Ject Audio Systems enhanced the design of its very well-received Debut PRO belt-drive turntable and now announced the new Debut PRO B. As it recently did in the new XA B True Balanced Turntable, the new Debut PRO B turntable gets a balanced mini XLR output. In order to offer what the Austrian company calls a True Balanced experience, the new turntable also receives the Pick it PRO Balanced moving magnet phono cartridge, which is the first of its kind.
The new enhanced turntable was also design to be paired with Project's range of balanced-input electronics. A mini XLR > mini XLR cable (sold separately) connects directly to the mini XLR input of Phono Box S3 B, Phono Box DS3 B or Tube Box DS3 B. Users can also use a mini XLR > standard XLR cable to connect to either DS3 B model or the Reference Series Phono Box RS2. As Pro-Ject states, "the improvement is not subtle" when the new turntable is used with the balanced connections.

The pre-adjusted Pro-Ject Pick it PRO Balanced cartridge is key to achieve the "True Balanced" signal transmission. A revised version of the Pick it PRO cartridge, the Pro-Ject engineering team re-routed the grounding so that it sends a symmetrical signal, improving the ability to remove accrued noise and interference from the transmission line.

Otherwise, the new Debut PRO B maintains the design aspects that made the Debut PRO success, including the 8.6" carbon-on-aluminum arm tube, a massive tonearm bearing block, a precision-machined diecast TPE-damped aluminum platter, an anti-resonant sub-platter, a sophisticated DC/AC power generator and the TPE-damped height-adjustable metal feet.

Finished with nickel-plated trimmings and an eight-coat satin black paint job, the new Debut PRO B will begin shipping in the US market late Fall 2024, retailing for $1,099 USD.
