Announced originally at Axpona 2023, almost a year ago, the new M4U TWM earbuds with Magneto-Static technology in a Hybrid Planar dual driver design are now available. The new PSB M4U TWM wireless earbuds stand-out for its hybrid planar technology and an integration with Audiodo, the Swedish hearing calibration specialists, for a seriously personalized listening experience that aims to deliver very high quality reproduction.

PSB Speakers entered the headphone market over 10 years ago. That is not unusual for a speaker brand. But evolving into the true wireless space with completely original designs is not something easy to do and only possible because PSB is part of the Lenbrook Group of companies, a leader in advanced technologies with serious ambitions in the high quality audio space.

The PSB M4U TWM wireless earbuds were originally announced at Axpona 2023 together with the high-performance M4U 9 headphones, featuring improved engineering and better components in order to deliver the best possible presentation of musical detail - in itself a way to differentiate products in a crowded market and a way to respect the PSB Speakers heritage, consolidated since Paul Barton founded the company in 1972.

Additionally, through a partnership with Audiodo Personal Sound, PSB added a way for users to setup sound personalization options along with PSB’s proprietary RoomFeel technology, which aims to deliver the natural sound of a live performance and a listening space - as if the user is listening in the best acoustic room space. Carefully developed using what is known as "Room Gain", RoomFeel enhances the detail with a unique sonic signature that also improves comfort.

To deliver the experience, the M4U TWM earbuds leverage powerful Magneto-Static technology in a Hybrid Planar dual driver design - the same technology found in high-end magneto loudspeakers. Dedicated transducers, one for high frequencies and one for low frequencies work together with aptX Adaptive Bluetooth wireless technology. aptX Adaptive includes a suite of codecs that ensure that everything in sync from movies to games with dynamic low latency and an adaptive bit rate supporting up to 24-bit high- resolution audio quality.

With an IP65 rating the M4U TWM are sweatproof, water resistant and dustproof making them well-suited for active users, in the gym, during cycling or running and even on a long commute. Convenient features like hard click buttons on both earphones make music control and voice calls hands-free and intuitive, while a smart USB-C charging case delivers a maximum of 32 hours of extended play time (8 hours out of the case and 3 additional charge cycles in the case).

Sound Optimization
An integration with Audiodo Personal Sound technology is one of the most unique features offered by these compact earbuds. The breakthrough technology uses a non-replicable set of algorithms which allows listeners to calibrate their headphones in a way that accommodates for the listening qualities of their left and right ears independently. After completing a quick and easy hearing assessment accessed through the PSB Headphones app, Audiodo Personal Sound maps out a precise and thorough understanding of the listener’s hearing, calculates what changes need to be made based on personal sound perception, and formulates a compensation curve for the listener that can be applied to the overall headphone sound.

This personalization only enhances the RoomFeel implementation that characterizes PSB personal audio products. Created to deliver rich and natural sound through headphones, the next generation of PSB's proprietary RoomFeel technology mimics the experience of listening to a pair of high-quality, full-range speakers properly set up in a good room. RoomFeel makes the music feel less ‘in the head’ by recreating an open and natural in-room listening experience through the M4U TWM earbuds.

All headphone settings, including Audiodo Personal Sound tests and Transparency modes are accessed centrally through the PSB Headphones app, a full-featured app that allows users to adjust settings, check battery levels and regularly keep the headphones up-to-date with the latest firmware updates and codes.

Otherwise, the M4U TWM includes a few other essential features that will be valued, such as the possibility to activate voice assistants (message dictation is getting much better thanks to AI) or use hard click buttons for hands-free calling and music control. For quality calls there is also Qualcomm cVc (clear voice capture) technology built-in. The earbuds are rechargeable with 8 hours of playback and 24 hours in the smart charging case.

The new PSB M4U TWM wireless earbuds come with 3 sizes of silicon tips for a customizable fit and are available to purchase for US$199 / CA$299.
