June 8 2017, 04:00
The results for SEAS Fabrikker's intense R&D program keep showing with more applications for the company's new generation high-quality drivers. Recently announced by Danish company PBN Audio, founded by Peter Bichel Noerbaek, the new CX871 speaker kit features two different SEAS drivers: the H1699-08/06 MR18REX/XF 7” Midrange Coaxial Loudspeaker, and 2x H1208-08 L22RN4X/P 8” Aluminum Cone Woofer. The result was recently presented by Madisound at the LAAS – Los Angeles Audio Show.

The nice sounding and nice looking speakers have caused a positive impression during Madisound's presence at LAAS 2017, and the company is already announcing the kit availability for $1,590.00 in the North American market - which is an amazing value. The new build-it-yourself speaker kit from PBN-Audio is expected to become popular in the consumer market, as it is perfect to assemble at home.

SEAS delivers two different drivers to the CX871 kit. The first one is the H1699-08/06 MR18REX/XF 7” Midrange Coaxial Loudspeaker (top), with a pre-coated reed-paper cone. The cone acts as a horn loading for the tweeter in this amazingly compact driver, providing a balanced sound, while the coaxial design provides an impressive level of stereophonic imaging. The second driver is the H1208-08 L22RN4X/P 8” Aluminum Cone Woofer. It features a 4-layer, high-temperature voice coil. It is a driver with an extremely “stiff” cone with great bass precision, plenty of power handling and low-frequency extension. The two units combine to generate an impactful response that combines well with the midrange.

PBN has dedicated years of engineering to support the technology applied in this kit, with advanced electronics to achieve the best possible results. The company also provides full instructions to make life easier for the everyday loudspeaker enthusiast, as well as the more professional, skilled DIY’er. Peter Bichel Noerbaek, the founder and owner of PBN Audio is known for his advanced crossovers, which ensure that the drivers blend perfectly together and he doesn’t compromise on the components. The results of this no-compromise approach can be clearly heard in terms of sound quality, exceptional sound stage, and imaging precision. As PBN details, "the bass is well balanced with the midrange and with plenty of low-frequency output as well as very high power handling capacity. The system works well for both home-audio application as well as a precision studio monitor. We are sure the quality is so good, this could be your final system."
