Peter Janis, the founder of Radial Engineering, passed on August 7th, 2024, after his cancer returned. In his final years, after selling his company and retiring, Peter wrote down the story of his life and all of the lessons he learned as a behemoth in the music industry. The book is now available on Amazon and bookstores everywhere, and all proceeds from the book go to the NAMM Foundation.

Peter Janis grew up in Montreal, Canada, and became a guitarist at an early age, playing in various bands around Montreal. He started his music retail career at Steve's Music in Montreal. He later moved to Ottawa and continued working in the musical instrument industry and playing in Ottawa bands.

He then moved to Edmonton and continued his career in the pro audio and musical products industry. After moving to Vancouver, he took a position with TMI, a musical products distributor, in the marketing department and established a solid relationship with Fender Musical Instruments and other major suppliers. After the demise of TMI, he founded a number of companies serving the pro audio and musical products markets and in 1992 founded Radial Engineering

Radial became one of the most innovative and successful companies in the worldwide pro audio and musical products industries. Peter helped develop a host of successful products and developed relationships with some of the most successful artists and technical professionals in the world. He sold Radial in 2018.

He then spent much of his time traveling, doing consulting work for small businesses, doing articles for industry publications, and writing his book "Lessons Learned". Now available, all proceeds from the book go to the NAMM Foundation to share his wisdom with the next generation of entrepreneurs in the music industry.
