L-Acoustics Unveils Ultra-compact X4i Coaxial Enclosure

February 1 2019, 00:45
Previewed at NAMM 2019 and now officially introduced at ISE 2019, the new L-Acoustics X4i speaker is a powerful yet unobtrusive and highly weatherized coaxial loudspeaker for installation applications. In a convenient enclosure weighing less than a kilo, X4i, the smallest loudspeaker the company has ever manufactured, measures only 3.9 inches/99 mm deep, yet still offers the L-Acoustics sonic signature. A high performance, purpose-built tiny package for discreet installation applications.

Perfectly dimensioned for ease of integration into conventional construction materials, the new L-Acoustics X4i is suited to fill applications in performing arts centers or houses of worship, matching the sonic signature of main L-Acoustics systems such as ARCS and Kiva. The speaker can be hidden in walls, stair risers, stage lips, pit rails, under balconies or any other tight spot with ease. The enclosure can also additionally provide vocal reinforcement in settings such as conference rooms, museums and exhibits, and hospitality venues.

Combined with Syva Sub, the X4i is also suited for indoor or outdoor background music in restaurants, bars, hotels, and retail locations. Furthermore, the robust, weather-resistant X4i boasts an IP55 rating and becomes watertight with a rear sealing plate, allowing integration in challenging climatic or outdoor environments. Complemented by a versatile mounting accessory, it delivers all the flexibility of a high-performance package, purpose-built to integrate into conventional construction.

"In developing X4i, our aim was to provide unsurpassed utility without compromising on sound quality while catering to known architectural constraints. X4i is quite literally the perfect fit for the integration needs of today’s installation markets,” states Jeff Rocha, Director of Product Management at L-Acoustics.
The new L-Acoustics X4i is the smallest loudspeaker ever manufactured by L-Acoustics, an ultra-compact addition to the X Series coaxial range, shown here with the 5XT for comparison.

Shipping is scheduled to begin in March. L-Acoustics will be at the Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) 2019 show, booth 7-X230 in Hall 7. The company will demonstrate enhanced integration and interoperability with market-leading third party control platforms from Q-SYS and Crestron; and showcased its L-ISA Immersive Hyperreal Sound, the object-based sound technology that is rapidly growing across both live performance and install markets.
