Kemper GmbH Launches Guitar Speaker to Support Kemper Profiler Sound Modelers

March 20 2020, 01:10
For nearly two decades, Kemper GmbH developed and perfected the Kemper Profiler, an hardware unit that quickly became a leading-edge digital guitar amplifier and all-in-one effects processor using the company's patented technology, which is able to model the exact sound and behavior of any guitar amp and all its control variations. Now, the company added a critical missing link: the Kemper Kabinet and Kone guitar cabinet and driver.

Kemper is certainly one of the most successful companies in guitar amplification, basically capitalizing on all the products and brands that made electric guitar sound so popular. The Kemper Profiler amplifier heads - available in different formats and models - are being used in studios and stages all over the world, since they allow musicians complete freedom to use any guitar sound they wish and need, while making the life of audio engineers so much easier. Also, for many professional musicians, the technology allows them to have the exact "profile" of the sounds of the best tube amplifiers in the world, and take them everywhere they play without risking damaging their increasingly precious vintage amplifiers.

Now, Kemper has added also the ultimate cabinet solution for the Kemper Profiler units. Unveiled at NAMM 2020 and now available, the new Kemper Kabinet and Kemper Kone speaker, also available as a separate driver.

The Kemper Kabinet is a lightweight, powerful speaker cabinet rated for 200 wats rms at 4 ohms, using an exclusive speaker design developed exclusively for the Kemper Profiler, offering the choice of 19 different speaker characters (aka imprints) with their Kemper Profiler PowerRacks or PowerHeads. The Kabinet is a combination of the Kemper Kone loudspeaker and an exclusive and unique speaker tone mining technology developed by Kemper, making it possible to digitally "imprint" various speaker characteristics onto one single cabinet.

The Kone 12“ full range speaker which is made by Celestion and exclusively designed for Kemper, is based on its own F12-X200 loudspeaker designed specifically for use with profiling amps and modeling software. The sound variations are controlled and driven by the Profiler's own DSP, using a dedicated algorithm.

In contrast to the conventional idea of a full-range system, the radiation pattern of the Kemper Kone has been narrowed towards the physics of a classic guitar speaker chassis, so that even the full range sound carries a distinct guitar speaker character, unlike regular PA speakers or monitor speakers. To season the speaker behavior to the player’s individual taste Kemper offers the unique "Sweetening" and "Directivity" parameters for detailed adjustment.

The 19 included speaker imprints offer a choice of well-known guitar speakers from Celestion, and many renowned other classic brands, and even rare and particular speakers. More speaker imprints may be added via future software updates.

"By simply activating the Profiler's well-known Monitor CabOff function the Kemper Kone is switched from full-range mode to the Speaker Imprint Mode, which then exactly mimics one of 19 classic guitar speakers. The sound of these imprints should not be mistaken with the mic‘ed cabinet simulations of a Profile. They rather bring back the good old "amp-in-the-room" sound. Since the intelligence of the speaker lies in the DSP of the Profiler, you will be able to switch individual speaker imprints along with your favorite rigs, without needing to do extensive editing. Whenever you switch to a full-range sound, for an acoustic guitar, for example, the Kemper Kone will switch to full-range mode automatically," the company explains.

The Kemper Kabinet can be driven by the power amp of a Profiler PowerHead or PowerRack, as well as by utilizing any external power amp. When using external stereo amplifiers, driving two Kabinets in stereo is possible.

The Kemper Kone speaker is also available as a replacement speaker for existing guitar cabinets. It is available as a single unit and 2 and 4 speaker sets for 2 x 12" and even 4 x 12" guitar cabinets. Kemper is even accepting orders from 3rd party cabinet manufacturers.

The Kemper Kabinet is available from the Kemper online store and at dealers for Euro 400 or USD 480. The Kemper Kone replacement speaker is available exclusively from the Kemper online store for Euro 150, or USD 180 each.
