Jaybird's new fifth-generation Freedom Wireless Bluetooth Buds combine style, sound and increased comfort into its smallest and most advanced wireless earbuds model. The buds are both functional and refined, featuring a new enhanced 6mm driver and the speaker housing reduced by 20%.
With this new wireless Bluetooth earphones, Jaybird tried once again to re-writes the rules of earbud design and user experience, signaling its leadership in wireless headphone innovation. The in-ear design was improved to deliver better passive noise-isolation, with the speaker sensitivity improved to 96 +-3dB at 1KHz, with 5mW nominal output (10mW max) and minimum distortion. The receiver uses Bluetooth 4.1 supporting handsfree, headset, A2DP, AVCRP and SPP at 16-bit Stereo using AAC, SBC, and Modified SBC codecs. The integrated MEMS omnidirectional microphone is an ultra low power with improved sensitivity.
In the development, Jaybird didn’t stop at the earbud design and perfected its MySound app, allowing users to customize and save their own personal sound to Freedom, directly from any of the available music services or Bluetooth-enabled music device they use.
Apart from being controlled from an Apple Watch or compatible smartwatch models, the new Freedom model features multipoint connectivity, enabling users to simultaneously pair and connect with two different Bluetooth devices. For example, the user might have its Freedom buds paired to a laptop and a phone at the same time. This allows to listen to music from the laptop and still being able to answer an incoming call on the phone using the built-in Freedom buds controller. And for couples and friends, its also possible to share the music from one music device with another pair of Freedom buds.
“This latest generation of Freedom liberates our lives like never before,” says Judd Armstrong, founder and CEO of Jaybird. “These micro-sized tapered buds deliver our best-ever sound while featuring a reduced size that fits all ears, all in a low-profile fit that resonates with everyone. The over-ear fit and elegant metal accents of Freedom bring a fashionable element while also being more rugged than ever, offering the freedom to bring your music anywhere, from mountain to motorcycle, thanks to the buds’ helmet friendly breakthrough form.”
Jaybird’s new Freedom combines a micro-sized sand blasted metal accented housing in a fashionable, small package. Traditionally, in-ear Bluetooth buds use plastic materials to assist with signal performance, but Jaybird has overcome these challenges by moving all electronics to its miniaturized three button controller while still delivering an incredible eight hours of play time (four hours play time with an additional four hours through the listen-while-you-charge charging clip). If the user needs a battery boost, they can clip the lightweight charger on while driving to the gym or during workout and get an extra hour of playtime in just 20 minutes.
One of Jaybird’s hallmark design standards is drop-free music while offering incredibly small products. Jaybird continues to deliver this standard in Freedom, providing a huge win for active people where a lot of movement will not trip up the signal between phone and Freedom. Jaybird takes all these use cases into consideration when developing its products.
Jaybird Freedom is available exclusively from Best Buy stores, BestBuy.com and jaybirdsport.com for $199.95. Freedom rolls out to additional retailers over the summer. The buds come in four colors: Gold, Carbon (Black), Blaze (Red) and Ocean (Blue) and ship with the charging clip, Comply Foam ear tips in three sizes, silicone ear tips in three sizes, secure-fit ear fins in three sizes, plus cord management clips, cord shirt clip, USB 2.0 charging cable and carrying pouch.
