IsoVox Introduces IsoMic Microphone Tailored for Voice Recording With the IsoVox 2 Vocal Booth

September 29 2020, 00:15
IsoVox introduced IsoMic — a microphone technically tailored for voice recording within its innovative IsoVox 2 vocal booth, featuring four layers of acoustic materials with a patented 360 XYZ design to control sound waves from all angles. The combination, the Swedish company says, is guaranteed to capture perfect voices, thanks to the IsoMic patented triangular capsule, with an extended frequency response that delivers professional results.

As a successful start to the company's innovations, the NAMM University breakfast panel discussion, name-checked IsoVox's IsoVox 2 vocal booth a Best In Show solution at Summer NAMM 2017 in Nashville, TN. Ultimately enhancing vocal details and reducing overall volume while creating a warm and punchy sound without any detrimental breathing particles, unlike any other portable product, the IsoVox 2 vocal booth instantly gained praise from famous singers and voice artists.

IsoVox designed a solution for anyone to practice and record vocals at home or away without disturbing their neighbors. The IsoVox 2 vocal booth controls sound waves from all angles, enhances vocal details, and reduces overall volume. The vocal booth design is now complemented with the new IsoMic, a microphone tailored for voice recording.
The missing part for the IsoVox 2 vocal booth was a purposely designed microphone, versatile enough to allow anyone to achieve the best possible results. As IsoVox explains, most condenser microphones were tested for use with the IsoVox 2 booth and the company even published a convenient compatibility list available on its website (here). Still, the company found that creating its own condenser microphone, technically tailored for voice recording within the IsoVox 2 vocal booth, would be the best approach to deliver a complete solution.

The new IsoVox IsoMic features a unique patented triangular capsule that is capable of delivering a frequency range from 7 Hz to 87 kHz. During the developmental process, the IsoVox team turned to working with fellow Swedish company Research Electronics AB, owners of the Ehrlund Microphones brand, to create the ultimate voice microphone for the IsoVox 2 vocal booth by making full use of that trailblazing triangular technology developed by Göran Ehrlund himself when working with highly-advanced water leak correlation analysis modules.

Ehrlund discovered that the shape determines the impulse response, and the most superior shape for capturing sound was triangular. The resulting patented invention now proudly carries his name as the Ehrlund Capsule. That triangular capsule features a membrane with a recovery movement that is three times faster than a circular one; it is therefore able to pick up transients that would otherwise be left unheard.

As implied by the Ehrlund Powred wording blazoned across the IsoMic aluminum body (with glass bead blasting finish), the triangular capsule at the heart of the new microphone results in a sound that the company describes as rich, deep, and crystal clear — perfect for modern-day voice-over artists and vocalists alike. All impedances are also handled without altering the frequency response, and the IsoMic also features a number of other impressive specifications, such as 87 dBA SNR, 115 dB of dynamic range and being able to withstand a maximum SPL of 116 dB with 0.5% THD, or 1% THD at 122 dB. And the IsoMic also has an extremely low equivalent noise level of <7 dB (A), making audio editing of the recordings easier than ever.

While IsoMic conveniently comes complete with an IsoPop (working with its integrated filter to act as a double pop-removal system) alongside other original accessories, it is when positioned inside IsoVox's innovative IsoVox 2 vocal booth that the results really stand out — and all without disturbing any neighbors!

IsoMic is scheduled to be available in the US in mid-October with a MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) of $1,299.00 USD, while Asian and European availability — with an SRP (Suggested Reseller Price) of €1,299.00 EUR (including VAT) — will follow at the end of October/ early November 2020, all via IsoVox's network of dealers and distributors
