Following an earlier presentation to the market at the High End Show in Munich, Danish loudspeaker specialist Dynaudio is offering the North American market its first look at an update to the company's legendary Confidence hi-fi speaker range at CEDIA 2018, in San Diego. With this update, Dynaudio brings its most celebrated technologies — including soft-dome tweeters, Magnesium Silicate Polymer (MSP) cones, and Dynaudio Directivity Control (DDC) — to new heights with new materials, manufacturing techniques and designs.
Dynaudio speakers always create an impact when new improved models are introduced to the market, and the fact that the Danish manufacturer announces the new Confidence range as its Best high end speakers yet is no small thing. As Otto Jørgensen, Dynaudio product manager states, "I've been doing this job for a long time — but for the first time in nearly a decade, listening to the new Confidence models genuinely gave new meaning to the music I thought I knew. It's just extraordinary."
Brand-new drivers, including the mighty new Esotar3 tweeter, combine with a precision-machined composite baffle, innovative cabinet design and optimized crossover to create the most advanced passive loudspeaker range in Dynaudio history. Intensive analysis in the company's Jupiter measuring facility in Denmark has enabled refinement of the Confidence speakers' high-tech DDC sound-beaming technology to produce the new DDC Lens system. The DDC Lens; newly-designed, high-power NeoTec drivers; the innovative midrange driver basket and Horizon surround; and the new Compex composite baffle ensure that music is directed exactly where listeners want it: their ears.
The Dynaudio Confidence range has gained four new models. The Confidence 20 ($12,999 per pair, including stands) is a large two-way stand-mounted speaker that features a 7-inch-long throw woofer with a neodymium magnet and an Esotar3 tweeter. The speaker also comes with a dedicated stand, designed specifically to take advantage of its down-firing bass-reflex port.
The Confidence 30 ($19,999 per pair) is a medium-sized, three-way, floor-standing loudspeaker with DDC technology on board. It uses two 7-inch woofers with neodymium magnets, one 6-inch midrange (also with a neodymium magnet), and one Esotar3 tweeter with the DDC Lens.
The Confidence 50 ($26,999 per pair) is a large, three-way, floor-standing loudspeaker with DDC technology. In addition to two 7-inch woofers with neodymium magnets, it features two 6-inch neodymium midrange drivers and one Esotar3 tweeter with the DDC Lens.
The Confidence 60 ($39,999 per pair) is an extra-large three-way floor-standing loudspeaker. Its DDC technology uses two 9.4-inch neodymium woofers, two 6-inch midrange drivers (also with neodymium magnets), and a single Esotar3 tweeter in conjunction with the DDC Lens.
All the speakers in the new Confidence range are available in Midnight high-gloss, Smoke high-gloss, Raven Wood high-gloss, Ruby Wood high-gloss, and Blonde Wood finishes. They will be available late 2018 through select authorized Dynaudio dealers in the United States and Canada.
