Celestion, the famous UK manufacturer of guitar and bass loudspeakers whose classic guitar tones have made the company famous as the voice of rock and roll, announced their new line of Bass Impulse Responses. Following the success of Celestion's digital representations of renowned classic tones for electric guitar, the new Bass IR line was now launched beginning with the new collections of 10-inch PULSE10 and 15-inch PULSE15 speaker tones, available for audition and download at CelestionPlus.

"Guitar players who create their tone with amp modelers and emulators or direct into DAWs know that we are there to help them deliver great classic Celestion tone with our acclaimed range of Impulse Responses,” says Nigel Wood, Managing Director at Celestion. “We are very pleased to introduce our new Bass IRs so that bass players can have tones designed just for them.”

Celestion has recorded the new Bass IRs with selections of microphones popular for bass guitar recording, and include 2x10, 4x10 1x15 cabinets, plus options for IRs that are tailored to specific playing styles. For each Celestion bass speaker, the IRs feature the most appropriate cabs for the speaker size. And for each cab type, the IRs have been recorded using three industry standard microphones, placed in the same positions relative to the speaker’s cone to produce a range of different tones – balanced, dark, dark 2, bright, fat and thin.

The Bass IRs also include a range of mic mixes and room mic recordings, for additional tonal variety, creating an extensive IR library for each speaker. An HF horn driver recording is also included, which can be mixed together with the cone driver IRs to add additional treble to the tone. The Bass IR collections include a range of different bass style mixes to get you up and running fast: Finger Basic; Finger Warmth Detail; Slap; Plectrum (Pick) Basic and Plectrum (Pick) Aggressive.

Celestion’s PULSE10 bass speaker IR collection has been designed to provide a rock solid bass performance, with all the dynamic control to be expected from a 10-inch speaker. Whether at home, in the studio, or live onstage, the PULSE10 collection offers a wide tonal and stylistic variety. The PULSE10 collection contains both cabinet options: 2x10 (ported) and 4x10 (closed). These cabinet options can be bought separately, or together as a collection, which is supplied with the five style mixes for a substantial saving.

The new PULSE15 IR collection is a powerhouse which provides powerful, deep bass tone, designed with Celestion technology built-in to hold down the bottom end. The collection includes a host of style and tonal options to be used whether live, at home, or in the studio. The PULSE15 is available as single cabinet IRs or as a collection along with the five style mixes as a bonus.

The new PULSE10 and PULSE15 Celestion Bass Impulse Responses join the acclaimed guitar speaker IRs in the ever-growing collection, including A-Type, Celestion Blue, Celestion Cream, Celestion Gold, Classic Lead 80, Heritage G12H 55Hz, Heritage G12M, G12K-100, G12-35XC, G12T-75, G12-50GL Lynchback, G12-H150 Redback, G12M Greenback, G12M-65 Creamback, G12M-75 Creamback, G12H Anniversary, G12-65, Neo Creamback, V-Type, Vintage 30 and Suhr’s classic cabinet IRs models.

The PULSE10 and PULSE15 single cabinets can also be included in a Pick & Mix selection. The Pick & Mix option allows users to select combinations of either 3 or 5 cabinets from the company’s full range of original IRs, offering flexibility in building a personal IR library at a significant savings compared to purchasing individual IRs.

Celestion IRs capture the essential behavior of the cabinet in the specific space in which it was recorded, including the frequency and phase response of single drivers as well as the interaction of multiple speakers. In both recording and live production, Celestion IRs enable the desired tone to be precisely and consistently reproduced, allowing users to escape the limitations of a single mic and cabinet setup and explore a universe of possibilities to create the perfect tone that can be precisely recreated, in the studio or on the road, time after time. And the IRs allow Celestion customers to audition specific models before purchasing one or more physical speakers.

Celestion IR digital downloads are available in uncompressed, industry standard .WAV format at 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates at 24 bit depth, in lengths of 200 and 500 milliseconds. Once the files are downloaded and unzipped, users simply load the IRs into a convolution plug-in in their DAW or into other processing hardware. These formats will work in all known hardware capable of loading IRs, and for the most popular hardware Celestion have already grouped together the correct formats. Guitar processor manufacturers supported include Atomic Amps, Fractal Audio Systems, Kemper, Line 6, Logidy, Positive Grid, Two Notes, Headrush and Yamaha. The Celestion IR files may be downloaded in the sample rate and length appropriate for the hardware being used or as a complete package of all rates and lengths.
