November 19 2021, 00:30
Bluesound, the wireless hi-res audio company, part of Lenbrook International, announced BluOS 3.16, introducing a series of enhancements including Dolby Atmos support. Ahead of the US Black Friday holiday, Bluesound users will be prompted to update their BluOS players, at which time, they will gain access to the immersive power of Dolby Atmos for the Pulse Soundbar+ and BluOS-Enabled products, including all-new audio settings for home theater sound.

The Bluesound Pulse Soundbar+ ($899 in black/$999 in White, US MSRP) is a high-quality audio soundbar with a unique design, offered in a choice of Black or White finishes, and configurable to a range of home entertainment applications and needs. For ease of installation the Pulse Soundbar+ comes supplied with a wall mount bracket as well as two kickstand feet. It's full power for home theater becomes evident when combined with the Pulse SUB+ subwoofer.

The unique BluOS implementation of Dolby Atmos in the Pulse Soundbar+ features four virtualization profiles - Movie, Music, Late Night and Off – giving users more features than typical in other soundbar implementations of Dolby’s audio processing technologies. While content that is encoded in Dolby Atmos will provide the most realistic experience, any content – from two-channel all the way up to seven-channel – can be virtualized to provide users a wider, higher, and more enveloping soundstage. Bluesound also adds that great care has been taken to assure the timbre of the audio remains natural anywhere in the listening environment.

“We are extremely excited that BluOS 3.16 brings a whole new dimension to our customers’ home theater experience with the Pulse Soundbar+,” says Matt Simmonds, Bluesound Product Manager. “Many brands overlook audio quality when implementing new technologies in the soundbar category, but at Bluesound, audio quality comes first. So we’re delighted that our team’s decades of software engineering and HiFi audio design experience has made Dolby Atmos in a two-channel soundbar more believable and natural than ever.”

The Pulse Soundbar+ features a powerful custom-specified ARM Cortex A53 Quad-Core chipset that processes audio 8 times faster than previous generations of Bluesound architecture. Combined with two WiFi chips to prevent network latency, this flagship board design offers rock solid and zero-lag audio performance, even for demanding gaming applications. Users can connect a wide array of wired and wireless, digital and analog sources, including through HDMI eARC, Apple AirPlay 2, two-way aptX HD Bluetooth, and Bluesound's proprietary BluOS music streaming system with support for high-resolution audio streams up to 24-bit/192kHz.

Newly added simple touch controls on the front panel now offer quick access to play, pause and volume. And with just a smartphone or tablet, the built-in BluOS wireless multi-room streaming technology can connect and sync audio to, from, and around any room in the home. Hands-free control of home entertainment installations is made possible with popular voice assistants from Google, Amazon, and Apple, while professional smart home integrators can get access to drivers for popular control systems like Lutron, Crestron, RTI, Elan, and others.

“In 2016, Bluesound launched the world’s first Hi-Res soundbar, setting the bar for audio excellence in the category that continues to this day,” Simmonds continues. “With the Pulse Soundbar+, we continue to innovate and refine, making good on our commitment to bring hi-res, HiFi listening to everyday life.”

BluOS 3.16 also expands the integrated music services available within the BluOS ecosystem with the addition of Tunify. Tunify specializes in providing commercially-licensed music to business users. Tunify allows professional business users to choose music to match the type of atmosphere and/or mood they are trying to achieve. With ease of use and several different service options, Tunify provides professional business owners an easy way to have more control over their business’s atmosphere and customer experience.
