September 2 2020, 00:45
beyerdynamic officially launched the third generation of the high end T1 (open) and T5 (closed) headphones today. Both headphones are powered by transducers based on beyerdynamic’s Tesla technology, are certified for high resolution audio, and improve the sound experience yet again, with a focus on the authentic reproduction of sounds, tuned for high-end realism especially in the upper mids. And they come with improved replaceable cables!

beyerdynamic’s new T1 and T5 – the third generation Tesla Hi-Fi headphones – combine a refined design with precisely tuned sound for music enthusiasts. The two headphones offer optimized acoustics and an improved design. In fact, the design quality of the T1 and T5 headphones was recently recognized by the German Design Award 2021, who honored them as winners in the category “Excellent Product Design – Entertainment”.

In previous generations, the beyerdynamic T1 and T5 headphones have positively impressed with their precise and transparent sound that is underpinned by Tesla driver technology. According to the German brand, this third generation takes the experience to the next level. The T1 model, with its open design, offers a truly three-dimensional sound experience, while the spatial sound gets a gentle bass boost for a warmer sound experience.

The T5 is a closed high-end design for an impressive sound experience. Listeners can fully enjoy their music as external noises are reduced. And once again, the transducers are arranged in a classical tilt for a clear and natural sound. This generation improves the sound reproduction with tuned upper mids. Both voices and instruments are now even more clearly perceptible.

Both headphones are powered by transducers based on beyerdynamic’s own Tesla technology, developed and manufactured at the company's headquarters in Heilbronn, Germany. The Tesla transducers are Hi-Res Audio certified and guarantee a high-resolution sound playback. And in both headphones, the company used high-end materials. The T1 and T5 both have yokes of anodized, brushed aluminum, with headbands covered with Alcantara, which gives them a very special elegance.

The T1’s housing cover looks elegant with a perforated pattern that was machined in the lacquered stainless steel using a complex production process. The T5 is based on the same design but, as a closed model, its housing cover is an elaborate structure with brushed and lacquered aluminum.

In the brand's best tradition, both models have earpads that ensure that the sound is perfectly balanced and make them incredibly comfortable to wear. This is achieved thanks to a memory foam filling of the earpads, which adapt to the head’s shape through heat and pressure. Breathable soft velour covers for the T1’s earpads, making them fit snugly around the ears. The earpads of the T5 are made from synthetic leather, which helps to shield from external noises.

Both the T1 and T5 headphones come with textile-covered cables that are plugged in at both ends. The cover makes the cables more flexible and a pleasure to handle. And because they have removable cables, they can be easily replaced. The textile sheathing also protects the high-purity OCC7N copper conductors, which ensure the best possible signal transmission. Both headphones can be enjoyed at home with mobile devices due to their 32 Ohm impedance.

The T1 and T5 are now available at https://north-america.beyerdynamic.com/ and retail for a recommended price of $999.00 US.
