The new B&C 18DS115, available in 8 and 4 ohm versions, features a 40mm long, 4.5 inch diameter (116mm), Copper Clad Aluminum Wire voice coil. With a 1700watt AES power rating, 98db sensitivity, and over 16.5mm of Xmax, this high-energy subwoofer is a significant step forward from similar models in the B&C range. First samples will be available from Italy in early May.
“This next evolution subwoofer uses a new, longer, four-layer aluminum voice coil,” says Ron Tizzard, Director of Sales for B&C Speakers. “The result is very high motor strength without increasing magnet weight and cost, which leads to higher sensitivity, lower distortion and better overall performance.”

Additional specifications detail a 3400 W continuous program power capacity with a 30 to 500 Hz frequency response and 60 mm peak-to-peak excursion before damage. The 18DS115 features a neodymium magnet to allow a very high force factor and linear excursion, with a double silicone spider with optimized compliance and aluminium demodulating ring for very low distortion. "The 18DS115 subwoofer’s four-layer aluminum coil offers more output, in all the right places," says the company.
