Austrian Audio Introduces Headsets for Business and Gaming

January 28 2022, 02:10
As Austrian Audio continues to expand its global distribution network and product portfolio to better serve its addressable market, the company is leveraging its house-developed Hi-X driver technology in new designs. Following the studio-oriented professional headphones, the Vienna company released two new headsets: the PG16 for Gaming, and the PB17 for Office use, both with large comfortable earpads, detachable cables and foldable designs.

At the core of the new PG16 Pro Gaming and PB17 Professional Business headsets is Austrian Audio's proprietary 44mm High Excursion (Hi-X) driver and ring magnet system. The ring magnet, combined with a copper-clad aluminum voice coil, reduces the weight of the membrane and the voice coil connected to it, allowing the membrane to move or change direction faster, providing a more responsive impulse reaction. This results in low THD at lower frequencies and clear, precise sound, already proven in the company's professional models.

For these new gaming and business solutions, Austrian Audio added all-metal headband and hinges for maximum durability, in a foldable construction with detachable cable for easy storage. Both models benefit from the large soft memory foam earpads to keep users comfortable during the longest sessions. The earpads are made of special "slow retention" memory foam.

According to Austrian Audio, with the PG16 Pro Gaming Headset, gamers will benefit from high-resolution professional sound, delivering improved spatiality to precise localization of sounds, even the quietest details. Optionally, users can explore the included Spatial Sound Card software from New Audio Technology for 7.1 surround sound - basically binaural loudspeaker virtualizations rendered to headphones for an enhanced gaming experience.

Business professionals will appreciate the sonic detail, speech intelligibility, and fatigue-free listening of the PB17 closed-back headphones. The Austrian Audio PB17 is not only slightly cheaper, it's also a great professional office and business tool, equally-suited for general media, music and relaxation. The closed design of the PB17 prevents sounds from entering or escaping, allowing users to make calls undisturbed and concentrate fully on the conversation.

Both headsets are essentially designed to endure intense use with maximum stability, long durability, low weight, and optimal wearing comfort. The closed design with superior insulation effectively eliminates ambient noise, so users can fully concentrate on the calls or the games. Both the PG16 and the PB17 are equipped with a pro-grade boom omnidirectional microphone, which transmits voice clearly, and the microphone is quickly muted using the ‘Lift to Mute’ boom mechanism.

Both headsets also connect with a 1.4m long cable with a 3.5mm jack and the PB17 ships with a USB adapter (HSU7 USB Adapter). The cable is removable and can be swapped quickly and easily. Both headsets are compatible with PC, Mac, PS4, PS5, Xbox (controllers with TRRS socket) and TeamSpeak certified.
The PG16 retails for €139 (RRP inc. VAT) or US $169, while the PB17 retails for €129 (RRP inc. VAT) or US $159.
