At InfoComm 2017, Audio-Technica introduced its new ATDM-0604 Digital SmartMixer, featuring intuitive use, superior echo-canceling and flexible web remote functionality. The new six-channel automatic mixer is ideal for meetings, conferences, soft codec applications, radio and TV broadcasts and other applications involving the use of multiple microphones or other media inputs. Audio-Technica also launched the U841R Boundary Microphone, an update of A-T’s highly popular U841A model, adding integrated electronics.
Audio-Technica’s SmartMixer technology allows channels to be mixed automatically in gate or gain sharing mode, ensuring consistent, high-quality audio output from all inputs in a setup, without the introduction of feedback, excessive ambient noise, or comb filtering. Controls and LED indicators on the mixer’s front panel allow users to easily adjust input/output and gain levels; set and recall presets; turn on/off phantom power, low-cut filter, automatic mixing and acoustic echo cancellation (AEC); change IP configuration (Auto or Static); and more.
A full complement of digital signal processing is available for inputs and outputs including parametric EQ, compressor, limiter and feedback control. Control and monitoring tools are accessible locally on the front panel or via the Web Remote interface, which allows users to handle the aforementioned adjustments from a Windows-based PC, Mac, iOS or Android device, plus make additional changes to the input and output settings, select gate or gain sharing mode when using Smart Mix, and adjust other advanced settings.
The mixer is equipped with four balanced microphone inputs, two balanced Mic/Line inputs and one unbalanced stereo input, along with two balanced and two unbalanced outputs. Network (Cat5e or better) and USB ports are also included, as are A/B Audio-Technica Link ports that let users connect six ATDM-0604 mixers via Cat5e cable for simultaneous use within an expanded setup. The ATDM-0604 also features 8 x 3 audio routing matrix, 6-channel Smart Mix (gate or gain sharing), and 2-channel USB audio interface allows for soft codec (Skype, WebEx) integration or playback from computer.
The ATDM-0604 Digital SmartMixer will be available summer 2017 at U.S. pricing of $899.
New U841R Boundary Microphone
Audio-Technica also introduced its new U841R Omnidirectional Condenser Boundary Microphone. A new addition to Audio-Technica’s acclaimed UniPoint line of microphones, the U841R is an update to and replacement of A-T’s highly popular U841A microphone. While retaining the feature set that has made the U841A such a successful tool, the new U841R microphone is enhanced with the addition of internal electronics that do not require an external power module. The mic features an integral TA3M output connector and includes a 25’ TA3F-to-XLRM cable.
The U841R delivers exceptionally intelligible audio reproduction in a super-compact, low-profile design. Equipped with UniGuard RFI-shielding technology, this omnidirectional condenser boundary microphone is designed to capture audio for clear, highly intelligible sound reinforcement, professional recording, television and conferencing in surface-mount applications. The U841R has a 360° pickup angle and operates on phantom power.
The capsule features a fixed-charge back plate permanently polarized condenser with omnidirectional in hemisphere polar pattern above mounting surface and a frequency response from 40-20,000 Hz and 200 ohms impedance. The U841R is able to withstand 130 dB maximum input sound level (1 kHz at 1%THD) and offers a dynamic range of 105 dB (1 kHz at Max SPL) with a signal-to-noise ratio of 69 dB (1 kHz at 1Pa).
The U841R Boundary Microphone ships with a soft protective pouch and will be available July 2017 at U.S. pricing of $199.00.
