The new Dante AV solution is a codec-agnostic, 1Gbps solution that brings the full Dante toolset and ease of use to AV-over-IP, allowing manufacturers to add networked video to any Dante audio-over-IP platform. It provides the ease of use, seamless multi-vendor interoperability, and integrated control experience that users have come to expect from Dante.
According to Audinate, the new solution can be used to create systems for multi-screen environments such as sports bars and corporate lobbies, allowing audio to be routed wherever desired by end users. Dante AV also allows perfect lip-sync applications when doing live presentations with video, deploying and managing video walls easily and at lower cost, and simplifying installation and use of conference rooms that combine video and audio media. The solution is also designed to allow the installation of secure AV systems that are easy to use for volunteer-driven users, such as houses of worship and schools.
Detailing the technology side, Dante AV solves problems of networked video and audio synchronization, utilizing a single network clock for sub-microsecond accuracy, where audio and video signals are independently routable in a single, easy-to-use interface using the Dante Controller software. With Dante AV manufacturers can also take advantage of the Dante API to customize their management user interface. And according to Audinate, Dante AV can solve time alignment issues and eliminates the need for audio de-embedders in applications such as sports bars, live events and multi-zoned AV systems, allowing for perfect lip sync everywhere.
Implementation of the new solution is enabled by the new Dante AV Module, which supports one video channel and 8 bi-directional channels of uncompressed Dante audio. The Dante AV Module is ideal for manufacturers creating 1G video-over-IP products and includes Dante control, transport and synchronization. The architecture is completely codec-agnostic, so manufacturers can use the codec of their choice and still get the benefits of Dante.
The Dante AV Module is available with the Dante AV Product Design Suite, providing a complete AV-over-IP endpoint product design for manufacturers that wish to quickly get a product to market. The Product Design Suite incorporates the Dante AV Module and includes a comprehensive set of hardware documents and software to create complete, fully interoperable AV products quickly and reliably. The Dante AV Product Design Suite includes a JPEG2000 codec supporting 4K/60 4:4:4 video for visually lossless results with low latency over a 1Gbps network. Dante AV Product Design Suite also implements HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent copying of digital audio & video content as it travels across connections. The Dante AV Product Suite can also be easily customized to suit an OEM’s specific requirements and provide competitive differentiation.
"Customers want us to bring the V to AV," says Lee Ellison, CEO of Audinate. "With Dante AV, we are excited to make that a reality. The Dante AV Module and the Dante AV Product Design Suite will enable manufacturers to quickly get integrated audio and video products to market, with all of the benefits Dante has to offer. With Dante AV, we’re taking everything we've learned from years in networked audio to the video world, and delivering on our vision of a truly integrated, easy to use and interoperable AV experience."
Dante AV Product Design Suite with intoPIX JPEG 2000 Technology
Audinate will also use intoPIX’s ProAV optimized ultra-low-latency JPEG 2000 technology within their new Dante AV Design Suite for use with the newly announced Dante AV Module™.
“Although the Dante AV Module is designed to be codec agnostic, we felt it was in the best interest of our OEM customers to have a codec already integrated as part of the Dante AV Product Design Suite,” states Lee Ellison, CEO of Audinate. “This development by Audinate to incorporate the intoPIX JPEG 2000 into the Dante Product Design Suite will enable OEMs to quickly deliver a complete Dante AV solution accelerating their time to market.”
The incorporation of intoPIX’s unique technology plays a crucial role in the system to deliver a visually lossless 4K60 4:4:4 HDR video experience within a standard 1 Gigabit Ethernet network with no latency. “Unlike normal JPEG 2000 solutions, our codec reduces latency down to 10 milliseconds and is more suitable for Pro-AV content – two features crucial to the industry,” explains Gael Rouvroy, intoPIX CEO and Director of Technology.
intoPIX’s JPEG 2000 codec enables Dante AV to create 4K multi-screen environments, allowing audio to be routed wherever desired, delivering perfect lip-sync during live presentations with video thanks to ultra-low latency. The codec can also be easily deployed to manage video walls at lower cost thanks to the utilization of Cat 5e cables and switchers, as well as simplifying installation and use of conference rooms that combine video and audio media.
The Dante AV Module was showcased for the first time at Integrated Systems Europe 2019 in Amsterdam and will be commercially available to manufacturers in mid-2019. More information can be found by visiting www.audinate.com/dante-av
