Atlantic Technology Declares Wireless Subwoofer Freedom with New FS-Series

May 12 2020, 00:20
On track to roll out 30 new products in the year following CEDIA 2019, Atlantic Technology is now shipping the FS Series wireless powered subwoofers, two new slim compact subwoofers that affordably deliver satisfying bass to any TV, soundbar or audio system. The new FS-Series 6.5-inch and 8-inch powered subwoofers offer universal connectivity - wired and wireless - and its design offers more placement freedom, giving users and integrators more options.

According to Atlantic Technology, the two compact subwoofers use low-latency SKAA wireless audio on 2.4GHz, a proprietary wireless audio technology developed, licensed and supported by Eleven Engineering. SKAA was introduced in 2013, at a time when wireless audio was still restricted to the basic Bluetooth profiles or using Apple's original AirPlay technology over Wi-Fi. Of course, a lot has happened with wireless audio since then, but SKAA remains in the market basically because it offers s simple solution for consumers, where a transmitter supports up to 4 receivers, with no pairing required after configuration.

Atlantic Technology was one of the original companies that adopted SKAA and already offers a complete line of wireless multi-room SKAA speakers, soundbars and amps, as well as adapters to connect equipment from any other brand. The FS Series of subwoofers are able to receive advanced low-latency long-range SKAA wireless audio signals from existing Atlantic Technology SKAA wireless multi-room products such as the FS-252 active bookshelf speakers, the STA-200 integrated amp and the upcoming Gatecrasher3 active multi-room soundbar. The subs also feature RCA line inputs and outputs for maximum value and versatility.

The new subwoofers are also engineered using proprietary advanced drivers designed by Atlantic Technology, including a long-throw bass driver that uses a massive vented magnetic motor structure and a high temperature, 4-layer aluminum voice coil. This powerful driver design has a very stiff composite cone that acts like a piston through its operating range. The high-efficiency 100 and 150 watt amplifiers are precision matched and equalized to each specific driver.

The new thin form factor of the FS Series comes in a sturdy MDF enclosure for low distortion and deep bass in a compact cabinet that’s only 7-inches deep and use an all satin-black finish or high-gloss piano-black finish. The thin cabinet gives homeowners superior placement versatility and can be positioned vertically behind a couch, or horizontally even hidden under furniture such as a bed or couch.

To match the subwoofer to any system the FS Series features an adjustable 50Hz to 300Hz, 12dB per octave low-pass crossover, and offers level control and phase switch. The Automatic Standby feature senses signal presence to turn the system on, with a convenient 20 minute auto turn-off after use.

Both models are affordably priced with a $399 MSRP for the 6.5-inch woofer 100-watt amplified FS-S65, and $549 MSRP for the 8-inch 150-watt FS-S8.
