Hong Kong-based Trends Audio announced the release of its new TS-10R affordable Hi-Fi system, combining its compact TA-10.2 SE Class-T (Tripath) Stereo Audio Amplifier and Trends SA-10R Speakers. A nice hi-fidelity combination to complement computer audio sources and a nice quality DAC, even more affordable as a package.
Trends Audio is the audio/video (AV) and multimedia brand from Hong Kong based company, ITOK Technologies Limited. Since the release of Trends TA-10 Class-T Stereo Audio Amplifier in 2006, Trends Audio received numerous accolades in its category from hi-fi magazines and websites. Trends Audio’s products in general have become appreciated for their compact design, performance and reliability.
With the emergence of CAS (Computer as Source) several years ago, the market as evolved and many music enthusiasts simply changed to basic desktop active speakers and, more recently, to wireless boxes, forgetting the intrinsic qualities of a nice hi-fidelity system. Also, good quality hi-fidelity systems remained out of reach from many potential users, while high-end solutions for audio playback are commonly thought as a luxury. “I do not see it impossible to popularize high-end audio equipment,” says David Ho, Marketing Director of Trends Audio.
The company already offers all the necessary components at affordable prices for that market but Trend Audio decided to make it simpler, by combining its award-winning Trends TA-10.2 SE Class-T Stereo Audio Amplifier and Trends SA-10R Speakers in the new Trends TS-10R package.
The featured Class-T stereo amplifier TA-10.2 SE provides up to 2x15-W output using Tripath’s proprietary Class-T Digital Power technology in a simple circuit design with careful component selection. An efficient and compact combination, providing a quality comparable to good quality Class-AB amplifiers at Class-D prices.
According to Trends Audio, even though the amplifier is palm-sized, the sound quality is audiophile grade and for a tenth the price of comparable quality amplifiers. Besides using Tripath’s class-T ICs, the TA-10.2 SE amplifier uses only audiophile electronic components and the complete circuit is housed in a shielded aluminum case, using gold-plated connectors and a high-quality separated AC power supply.
Included also in the Trends TS-10R package are the Trends SA-10R speakers, perfectly adjusted for the TA-10.2 SE amplifier at a stable 8-Ω load. Looking like classic vintage hi-fidelity speakers, the design of the Trends SA-10R speakers, in which the left tweeter is aligned left and vice versa, enhances the “stereoscopic sound” effect of the sources.
The Trends SA-10R speakers feature a 1” polymer dome tweeter with neodymium magnet and a single 5.25” woofer with multi-fibre coated pulped paper cone and rubber surrounds, double magnet structure for shielding and optimized field strength, with front mounted bass port and a proprietary core inductor. 5-way binding posts provide a wide array of secure wire options. The compact design is ideal for placement in any space, providing a wide dispersion and almost three-dimensional effect.
This Trends TS-10R Hi-Fi system is now available at only $465 (retail).
