Blackmagic Design Announces DaVinci Resolve 16 with Much-Improved Audio Features
At the NAB 2019 show, Blackmagic Design announced several exciting new products, including the new DaVinci Resolve 16 software and a whole new range of 8K products. Audio professionals will benefit from new Resolve 16 features, including immersive 3D audio features for Dolby Atmos, MPEG-H and SMPTE ST 2098 metadata support, new Elastic Wave capabilities, improved overview of automation parameters, enhanced loudness monitoring, new plugins and measurement tools, and a new foley sound library.

Solid State Logic Joins Sennheiser's AMBEO for VR Partnership Program
At NAB 2019, Sennheiser and Solid State Logic (SSL) have announced their cooperation within the framework of the AMBEO for VR partnership program. Solid State Logic’s S500, S300 and TCR System T broadcast mixing consoles will now feature onboard AMBEO A-B conversion for the Sennheiser AMBEO VR Mic. The AMBEO VR Microphone is an ideal tool for providing the 3D audio basis in immersive audio productions. The signals from the Ambisonics microphone can now directly be fed into SSL’s System T consoles.

Stenheim Premieres New Alumine Three Speaker in Chicago and Shanghai
A world premiere not to be missed at Axpona 2019 (April 12-14) in Chicago, or for those attending the Shanghai SIAV 2019 Show (also April 12-14), Stenheim will be unveiling its latest Alumine Three speaker, the product of many years of research and understanding of audio technology. As Stenheim states, while some manufacturers focus on the senses and others on technology, Stenheim's Made in Switzerland approach combines the two "because we understand the impact of physical constraints on subjective listening quality," they explain.

NBASE-T Alliance and Ethernet Alliance to Unite Through Merger
With NBASE-T technology gaining significant market momentum, the NBASE-T Alliance and the Ethernet Alliance have decided to join forces. The Ethernet Alliance, the global consortium dedicated to the advancement of Ethernet technologies, signed an agreement to consolidate NBASE-T activities under the Ethernet Alliance. The NBASE-T Alliance is an industry-wide cooperative effort focused on enabling the development and deployment of products that support 2.5GBASE-T and 5GBASE-T Ethernet.

United States Proposes ATSC 3.0 as ITU International Digital Broadcast Standard
The United States of America has proposed to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) adoption of the ATSC 3.0 digital broadcast standard for use by all countries in the world. The proposal is the first major step in the evaluation process for worldwide acceptance of the standard. The ITU will review the world’s first IP-based Broadcast System proposal to other regions, such as Europe, China, Japan, and Brazil, which have their own TV standards.
