USound and Partners to Deliver Next-Generation Over-the-Counter Hearing Aid

Following the announcement of the availability of a fully integrated audio module for its MEMS drivers, USound announced a collaboration with partners to develop and deliver a reference design for a cutting-edge over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid. The reference design will integrate USound’s Kore 4.0 audio module, ASE’s Micro SiP (System-in-Package), and OBO Pro2’s hearing aid design, delivering an advanced hearing aid alternative for the emerging OTC market.

USound, the developer and manufacturer of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) speakers for personal devices and wearables, announced an expanded partnership with AT&S Austria Technologie & Systemtechnik, a manufacturer of high-end printed circuit boards and integrated circuit substrates, to manufacture USound’s new fully integrated audio module for True Wireless Earbuds (TWS). The new audio modules can be 75% smaller and 85% lighter, with improved sound quality, compared to current TWS solutions.

The Megaclite 4.0 UH-R2040 is a reference design based on USound's Achelous UT-P2018 MEMS drivers, comparable in length and width to smaller balanced armatures, but thinner. They’re SMT reflow-compatible, so easy to incorporate into automatic assembly processes. Brent Butterworth listened, measured, and compared the performance of this new design against conventional in-ear products using established driver technologies. USound Raises $30M to Ramp Manufacturing of Second-Generation MEMS Technology

USound, the Austria-based developer and manufacturer of micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS) speakers for personal devices and wearable technology, announced that it has raised $30 million USD (€25 million EUR) to move into mass production of its second generation MEMS devices, with commitments from several global companies. The investment will ensure that USound will be in a position to build a stable supply chain to meet growing demand for its second-generation MEMS technology.
