Semtech Corporation Announces Intention to Acquire Sierra Wireless

Semtech Corporation, a leading global supplier of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, and Sierra Wireless, a connectivity and cellular solutions provider, confirmed the intention to combine the two companies. Semtech will acquire Sierra Wireless, aiming to bring together the ultra-low power benefits of LoRa with higher bandwidth capabilities of cellular technologies, and create a comprehensive platform for connected devices.

Semtech Corporation announced the latest addition to its RClamp platform. The RClamp3371ZC exceeds industry immunity standards for electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection robustness while only presenting 250 femtofarads of maximum loading capacitance. Engineered as a low clamping, ultra-low capacitance transient voltage suppression (TVS) device, the RClamp3371ZC is an ideal solution for safeguarding high speed interfaces, such as USB Type-C, from common ESD threats.

Semtech Corporation announced its new BlueRiver audio visual processor (AVP) chipset. The BlueRiver AVP chipset provides all the features, functions and benefits of Semtech’s existing NT1000 and NT2000 FPGA-based offerings (i.e., matrix-switch like performance over IP, under 0.1 millisecond latency, 4K60 uncompressed image quality, and common API), with the key new benefits of system cost reduction, significant power reduction, AV transceiver functionality, and fully integrated USB-HID interface.
