Semtech Corporation announced its new BlueRiver audio visual processor (AVP) chipset. The BlueRiver AVP chipset provides all the features, functions and benefits of Semtech’s existing NT1000 and NT2000 FPGA-based offerings (i.e., matrix-switch like performance over IP, under 0.1 millisecond latency, 4K60 uncompressed image quality, and common API), with the key new benefits of system cost reduction, significant power reduction, AV transceiver functionality, and fully integrated USB-HID interface.
The BlueRiver AVP series is integral to the growth of the SDVoE ecosystem in a wide range of market verticals and applications, such as large venue displays, command and control monitoring, medical, esports, leisure and hospitality, retail, and residential AV.
“The new BlueRiver AVP chipset enables a new generation of lower cost peripherals and integration directly into end-products, which should drive significant growth of SDVoE-enabled products,” says Don Shaver, Vice President of Video Products for Semtech’s Signal Integrity Products Group.
The BlueRiver AV Processor (AVP) chipset includes three devices: the entry level AVP1000 for AV over IP and matrix switch replacement, the AVP2000 which adds a video processing engine and fiber connectivity, and the AVP2000T with all the features of the AVP2000 plus bidirectional HDMI capability. New to the BlueRiver product family, the AVP2000T provides bidirectional HDMI connectivity in a single chip, enabling AV traffic to be sent simultaneously in both directions over a single optical fiber or copper category cable.
The chipset lowers system cost by reducing the number of devices required, and removing the need to use costly FPGA devices. In addition, the chipset consumes only 2.6W with all features operational, whereas FPGA-based solutions are typically around two to three times higher, which is a significant power savings. Additionally, all AVP products have a fully integrated USB-HID interface, uniquely designed for KVM applications.
