VeriSilicon Now Offers Fully Compliant Bluetooth LE Audio IP Solutions

VeriSilicon Microelectronics announced that its complete Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) IP solution has achieved full LE Audio specification compliance, including certifications for the LE Audio protocol stack and Low Complexity Communications Codec (LC3). The Shanghai, China-based company is now able to offers manufacturers, ODMs and OEMs its own range of wireless audio and DSP solutions enabling higher quality audio streaming across various applications with lower power and cost.

Specification Under Development Will Enable LC3plus High-Resolution Codec in Bluetooth LE Audio

The Bluetooth LE Audio set of specifications, introducing the LC3 codec as the mandatory option for wireless audio streaming, is an important evolution compared to the current default SBC codec. Nevertheless, unlike the current Bluetooth Classic A2DP profile that specifies optional audio codecs, LE Audio didn't offer any options. A recent article in the Fraunhofer IIS blog confirms that a new specification is under development to allow support for the LC3plus high-resolution audio codec.

The company is already providing commercial licensees with Bluetooth SIG qualified LE Audio software supporting the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) Generic Audio Framework specifications.

In order to ensure high quality wireless charging power transmitters, the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) has released the Qi 1.3 Wireless Charging specification with the extended power profile. This new specification created demand for high security silicon authentication devices for full-service support. In response, Microchip Technology announced the new industrial grade TrustFLEX ECC608 and the automotive grade Trust Anchor TA100 combined with Microchip secure key provisioning services for Qi 1.3 power transmitters.

New NFC Forum Specifications Enable Near Field Communication Devices to Communicate with Broader Range of Devices and Tags

The NFC Forum announced the availability of three adopted and one candidate technical specifications, following approval by the Board of Directors. Significant enhancements to these specifications include the addition of Active Communication Mode (ACM) for Peer-to-Peer Mode (P2P) communication, support of NFC-V Technology compatible to ISO/IEC 15693 and the introduction of the NFC-V based Type 5 Tag allowing NFC devices to communicate with a broader range of devices and tags.
