New Renesas RISC-V Voice-Control ASSP Allows Differentiated Applications with Voice Recognition

Renesas extended its RISC-V embedded processing portfolio with the first RISC-V MCU designed for voice-controlled HMI (human-machine interface) systems. The new R9A06G150 32-bit ASSP (Application Specific Signal Processor), developed in collaboration with RISC-V ecosystem partners, provides a complete, cost-effective, production-ready voice-control system solution that eliminates the need for RISC-V tools and upfront software investment.

The next generation of wireless audio projects is now getting on the bench, as developers get access to the first Bluetooth LE Audio evaluation platforms. Nordic Semiconductor has long been a reference in Bluetooth development platforms and has now released its nRF5340 Bluetooth LE Audio DK board, which includes everything required for developers to take advantage of the latest Bluetooth standard, including LC3 codec, low power consumption, and wireless stereo enhancements.

Nordic Semiconductor has announced that its nRF5340 high-end multiprotocol Bluetooth 5.2 System-on-Chip (SoC) has entered volume production. The world’s first dual Arm Cortex-M33 wireless SoC is now available and offers all the advanced features and security required for the next-generation of connected audio applications including LE Audio and advanced wearables. The new SoC is now widely commercially available through Nordic’s distribution network.

SEGGER announced emPower-USB-Host, a compact low-cost development board with two USB host ports, where many applications using USB peripherals can be realized with little effort and in a cost efficient way. Precompiled applications for barcode and smartcard readers, as well as POS displays, LTE sticks, and USB to LAN adapters are available for download, including complete projects for Embedded Studio with source code of these applications. Applications using SEGGER's emUSB-Host software API can easily access different types of USB devices.

German company SEGGER introduced audio class support for its emUSB-Device, a high-performance USB device stack specifically designed for embedded systems. Any audio application may now be realized, such as devices for conferencing systems, speakerphones, headphones or USB-to-audio adapters. If the target device incorporates or attaches to microphones, speakers, headsets, and/or musical instruments, the USB interface is often an ideal way to stream the audio data to or from the host.
