Audio Product Education Institute Discusses Automotive Audio Supply Chain Challenges

The AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) promotes an online event to discuss the challenges in the automotive supply chain, specifically in the perspective of those companies and professionals working in automotive audio and acoustics. The event, Wednesday, September 1 (12pm EDT), will outline the evolution and growing product development requirements for automotive audio, while APEI's education pillars experts will share lessons learned from suppliers and actual cases.

The always insightful series of Audio Product Education Institute webinars focusing on Supply Chain & Sourcing provide a unique opportunity to understand the full product cycle, from vision to market. In a new online event, Wednesday June 23 (12pm ET), David Lindberg (DB Enterprises) and Mike Klasco (Menlo Scientific) invite Phnam Bagley (Nonfiction Design), and David Waterman (Deep Blue Design) to discuss how design houses can be a critical option supporting brands in all critical stages.

The recently launched Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) is promoting a free introductory webinar focused on Interactive Voice Products, intended to share real world experiences in voice integrated product development. APEI's first online event - July 9, 4:00PM — 6:00PM Eastern Daylight Time - is the first in a roadmap that will also address Supply Chain and Sourcing, Modeling and Measurement, Product Management, The Legal World, and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

The Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) is an initiative of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) that is committed to furthering the knowledge and skills of professionals involved in the development of audio products. The new entity will present Interactive Voice Con, an online program designed to address real-world experiences in Voice Integrated Product Development. The first presentation will take place July 9, 2020 and registration is now open.

Today, most audio products, from Bluetooth speakers to appliances with voice command, now contain at least one microphone. If the product was designed a couple of years ago, it had an electret condenser microphone (ECM), but today it will most likely use a MicroElectrical-Mechanical System (MEMS) microphone. Spec’ing MEMS microphones has some differences and this article touches upon these points.
