Cirrus Logic Helps Ease PC Industry Transition to New MIPI SoundWire Interface

Cirrus Logic is offering an advanced audio solution to help ease PC manufacturers' migration to the MIPI SoundWire interface (1.2.1 specification) for a richer, more immersive audio experience. At the heart of the Cirrus Logic advanced, low-power audio solution are the company’s recently announced CS35L56 smart amplifier and CS42L43 Smart HIFI codec that are included in the Intel SoundWire-ready reference design aimed at helping laptop designers make a smooth migration to the new specification.

Among the many interesting demonstrations of new audio solutions for developers presented by TDK at CES 2020, the T5808 MIPI standard SoundWire microphone stands out as a "world's first," using the MIPI Alliance SoundWire compliant digital interface which allows bi-directional data flow. The T5808 is a multi-mode, low noise digital MEMS microphone in a small package, consisting of a MEMS microphone element and an impedance converter amplifier followed by a fourth-order Σ-Δ modulator.

The MIPI Alliance, the international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, announced MIPI I3C v1.1, the first update to the interface that eliminates the historical pain points of I2C development. MIPI I3C v1.1 is a scalable, medium-speed, utility and control bus that connects peripherals to an application processor, streamlining integration and improving cost efficiencies in development.

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, today released MIPI I3C Basic v1.0, a subset of the MIPI I3C specification that bundles the most commonly needed I3C features for developers and other standards organizations. Released under royalty-free terms, MIPI I3C Basic provides a streamlined upgrade path from the ubiquitous I2C, with the most commonly needed developer capabilities for smartphones, IoT devices, connected vehicles and more.

The MIPI Alliance, an international organization that develops interface specifications for mobile and mobile-influenced industries, announced it is opening access to its sensor interface specification, MIPI I3C. All companies, including those not currently members of MIPI Alliance, may access the MIPI I3C v1.0 specification so they may evaluate the incorporation of the specification into their design applications.
