HEAD acoustics Releases ArtemiS Suite 17

HEAD acoustics updated its ArtemiS Suite modular software platform for measuring and analyzing sound and vibration. Released a year and a half since the latest major update, ArtemiS Suite 17 improves the software with new tools, optimized workflows, and extended MATLAB integration for custom scripting and advanced automation. The update enables more accurate measurements and more efficient analysis, including in the fields of structural dynamics and transfer path analysis, hybrid modeling, and NVH development.

Pico Technology announced a further development of its PicoScope 6000E Series mixed-signal oscilloscopes (MSOs) with the launch of four new 4-channel models, each of which can be configured with 16 optional digital channels. With bandwidths of 750 MHz or 1 GHz, 8-bit or 8/10/12-bit Flexible Resolution and up to 4 GS deep capture memory, these products enhance the existing PicoScope 6000E portfolio, adding to the 350 MHz and 500 MHz models that were introduced in 2020.

Pico Technology announced availability of the new PicoScope 4000A Series PC-based oscilloscopes, a second-generation upgrade and expansion of the company's high-resolution, deep-memory product portfolio. With 2-, 4- and 8-channel models available, the PicoScope 4000A Series boasts 12-bit hardware resolution (to 16 bits with Resolution Enhancement), 256 MS deep capture memory, 20 MHz bandwidth with 80 MS/s sampling speed, up to 70 dB SFDR and a built-in 14-bit triggerable signal generator and 80 MS/s AWG. A SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface powers the instrument and delivers up to 160 MS/s communications to the host PC.

Loudspeakers for Vented Enclosures: A Backward Approach for Speaker Selection (LoVE BASS)

In this article for Voice Coil, the authors explore the problem of designing vented enclosures, describing a backward concept they call LoVE BASS, which they found to save a substantial amount of engineering hours during the process of speaker box design. As opposed to taking a given driver and designing an enclosure, the authors define the system’s target performance in terms of physical volume, lower cut-off frequency, ripple and maximum achievable SPL, after which they look for candidate drivers that allow for such a design. The 145th AES Convention will offer Technical Program presentations, workshops, discussion panels, and more, as well as the year’s largest dedicated professional audio showcase and exhibition. The convention will be once again concurrent with the independent NAB Show New York 2018 event (17-18) in an adjacent exhibition hall.
