Apple Introduces New Loose-Fit AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation

The news that Apple launched an updated version of its (regular) AirPods was somewhat muffled by the announcement of the hearing aid capabilities brought to AirPods Pro 2 with a simple software update. But the new AirPods 4 with ANC are a big deal for the industry which has been struggling to combine the benefits of the loose-fit (now also called open-ear) form-factor with the convenience of active noise cancellation when required. The key, as always for Apple, is in the elegant implementation of Adaptive Audio.

Samsung promoted its Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris to unveil its latest range of folding smartphones, Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6, two new smart watches, and a smart ring. Included in the series of announcements was the unveiling of Samsung's latest Galaxy Buds 3 Series true wireless earbuds, which surprised everyone for the radical departure from its original design in the previous generations. The new Galaxy Buds 3 and Galaxy Buds 3 Pro now look exactly like the earbud shapes of the AirPods.

The Adaptive ANC technology is designed to enhance user comfort and provide consistent sound quality for true wireless earbuds by adapting its performance to meet variations in how an earbud fits in a user’s ear, and adapt in real-time to changes in fit as the earbuds are in use.
