The new Dayton Audio HTA20BT hybrid stereo tube amplifier combines a 12W per channel RMS design (into a 4 ohm load) with Bluetooth 4.2, Aux, and USB inputs, featuring a subwoofer output for adding an active subwoofer and a high quality headphone amplifier built-in. Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has developed a 32-bit stereo D/A converter with headphone amplifier, the AK4377, enabling playback of DSD sound sources in smartphones or portable music players. The new advanced stereo D/A converter uses AKM's Velvet Sound architecture, delivering improved audio performance with a THD+N of -109dB, and offers support for DSD inputs up to DSD256.

A popular hybrid amp design available for headphone use, this single-ended (SE) pure Class-A amplifier is capable of driving headphones between 32 and 600Ω, and was derived from an original tube/MOSFET line amplifier project, published by Erno Borbely in Glass Audio (1/98). Originally published in audioXpress in April 2005, this project was meanwhile extensively discussed in multiple DIY audio forums all over the world and is probably one of the most tested of Erno Borbely's designs, with multiple iterations frequently published on blogs and other publications.
