Holophonix Creates Rental, Technical and Production Services for Immersive Sound Projects

Holophonix is now officially recognized as a ‘technical services provider’ as specified in September 2023 by the French National Commission of the ‘Label Prestataire de Service du Spectacle Vivant’. This new designation allows the Company to provide equipment rentals, technical services, and production services for immersive sound projects through a new dedicated Rental and Services department.

The Festival d'Avignon, one of the world's most important international events for contemporary performing arts, has chosen Holophonix and Amadeus to re-equip the prestigious main presentation area at the Festival, the Courtyard of Honor at the Palace of the Popes. The two French companies have delivered new hardware and software technology supporting the live performances including the soon to be released "Colonnes d’Avignon" (Avignon Columns' speaker array).

Coordinated by IRCAM Research Centre in collaboration with Amadeus and VRTUOZ, ‘Continuum’ is a 3-year research project, paving the way to new augmented sonic experiences for the performing arts field. Under this framework, the project intends to create a software solution for modeling room acoustic impulse response at high resolution, a hybrid reverb engine, and active acoustic enhancement systems for performing arts venues, all of which will be available in the Holophonix environment.

Available as an hardware processor and now as a native macOS app, the Holophonix spatial sound processor from French audio equipment manufacturer Amadeus, has been evolving since its original introduction and is now proven in multiple high profile productions. Unveiled originally in 2018 at the Frankfurt Prolight+Sound trade show, and commercially available since January 1, 2019, the Holophonix spatial sound processor received many new features and improvements, according to requests and needs expressed by its users.

Founded 30-years ago in Paris by Bernard Byk and Michel Deluc, Amadeus has been acquired by Gaetan Byk, who is intent on continuing the company's journey with its unique audio speaker designs and one-of-a-kind projects. The French audio manufacturer is renowned for its live, installed, and custom sound reinforcement and studio systems, and became recognized globally with the unique Philharmonia reference speakers, unveiled in 2014.
