Semtech Launches Next Generation BlueRiver AV Processor Chipset Series for SDVoE Applications

Semtech Corporation announced its new BlueRiver audio visual processor (AVP) chipset. The BlueRiver AVP chipset provides all the features, functions and benefits of Semtech’s existing NT1000 and NT2000 FPGA-based offerings (i.e., matrix-switch like performance over IP, under 0.1 millisecond latency, 4K60 uncompressed image quality, and common API), with the key new benefits of system cost reduction, significant power reduction, AV transceiver functionality, and fully integrated USB-HID interface.

Building on the tremendous demand for AV over IP, Netgear is now shipping powerful new M4300 switches along with the addition of two new 100 Gigabit network switches. The new 16, 24, and 48-port 10 Gigabit models, previously debuted at InfoComm 2019, are now available for purchase. Additionally, the new M4500 series 100 Gigabit Network Switches have been added to the Netgear managed switch line. All of these new offerings are purpose built to streamline audiovisual solutions over IP by reducing the complexity and cost of networked deployments but are equally applicable to standard IT network deployments.

Audinate’s Dante – the audio-over-IP and now also AV-over-IP solution that already dominates the world of professional audio – is seeing rapid adoption by manufacturers of residential audio equipment. Now, Dante is also seeing adoption in the residential market, with new products from leading residential brands including JBL Synthesis, ELAN, and Powersoft introduced at CEDIA 2019. At the Denver event, Audinate is promoting the availability of Dante Virtual Soundcard for installation in virtual Windows environments.

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) announced the release of a new positioning paper titled "AV Over IP: It's Real, and It's Transformational." The paper takes a closer look at the impact of the media-over-IP movement on the pro AV and installed systems markets. A key focus is AIMS' efforts to promote a single set of common, ubiquitous protocols for interoperability over IP in the pro AV industry, based on the SMPTE ST 2110 standards suite for video, audio, and data transport.
