JBL cut the cord with its new truly wireless earbuds for the everyday active lifestyle, called simply JBL Free. The new product unveiled by Harman as part of his massive new products announcement at IFA 2017, allows users to take calls, listen to music, and exercise. It's not exactly a cutting edge product, there are no smart features, the battery lasts for 4 hours, and they are available for a very affordable price. Samsung also announced the second-generation Gear IconX at IFA 2017.

Harman Introduces JBL LINK Smart Speaker Series Combining Immersive Sound with the Google Assistant

At IFA 2017, Harman International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics unveiled the JBL LINK series of voice-activated speakers with the Google Assistant. Available in three models, the LINK 10, LINK 20, and LINK 300 were designed to generate full-range sound in a portable format, with instant access to music through voice control. With this announcement, Harman now offers voice-activated speakers for Microsoft Cortana, Amazon Alexa and now Google Assistant.

The European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards 2017-2018 have been announced. Already listed at www.eisa.eu, the EISA Awards 2017-18 recognize performance and innovation in Consumer Electronics, including audio categories in hi-fidelity, home theater and mobile. This year the awards have a strong European flavor in the higher end home categories, with Japan and Asia in general dominating the home theater items. Exception for a US brand, JBL takes two awards in personal audio.
