Genelec Introduces New Ultra-compact 7040A Subwoofer

Genelec introduced a new ultra-compact active subwoofer, designed for limited production spaces. The ideal companion to complement Genelec 8010 and 8020 monitors, the 7040A extends the low frequency response down to 30 Hz and uses Genelec’s patented Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) technology, being able to produce 100 dB of SPL using a 6.5 inch woofer and a powerful Genelec-designed Class D amplifier.

Major broadcasters and manufacturers are among the latest members to join the Media Networking Alliance, recently formed by leading industry proponents, adopters, developers and suppliers of media networking technologies to promote adoption and support adopters of the newly ratified AES67 audio networking standard.

Leveraging the same 8000 series design and technologies used in studios and highly praised by audio professionals all over the world, Finish brand Genelec is progressively bringing consumer versions to the home audio market with its G Series of active loudspeakers. Gradually, Genelec has updated his monitor series with Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) auto-calibrating systems. Along with the advanced concept recently introduced in the new 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitor, at the recent 137th AES convention, Genelec also introduced the new 8320 and 8330 compact monitors and a SAM subwoofer, 7350.

Certainly one of the major highlights at the 137th AES Convention in LA, Genelec’s new 8351 Acoustically Coaxial three-way Smart Active Monitor is one of the most innovative speaker designs seen in recent years. The surprisingly compact 8351 features major advances in audio driver technology integrated into a sophisticated enclosure design.

At the IBC 2014, Genelec released a new generation of SAM systems by introducing two new compact two-way monitors, the 8320 and 8330, and a new subwoofer, the 7350, along with an entirely new and highly intuitive Genelec Loudspeaker Manager software, GLM 2.0, complemented with a new measurement microphone and network adapter unit.

The new Genelec 1237A and 1238A Smart Active Monitors (SAM) are tri-amplified systems featuring AutoCal and GLM technologies and powerful Class D amplification. The 1237A and 1238A monitors feature on-board intelligence to automatically tune the frequency response to compensate for acoustical room influences, as well as achieving perfect alignment of levels and distance compensation at the listening position.

Genelec is now shipping the 8010 Active Monitor, the smallest member of the acclaimed 8000 product range. Independently of the size, the new 8010 is an impressive monitor, ideal around workstations. Thanks to its universal power supply, the 8010 is also a perfect monitor for music production professionals on the move.
