This patent review looks at a “Loudspeaker with a Wave Guide” (Patent Number: US20140369543) by inventors Jussi Vaisanen and Ilpo Martikainen from Finish company Genelec. This patent relates to the Genelec 8351 Acoustically Coaxial Smart Active Monitor (SAM) monitor, originally launched in 2016. Genelec’s new G LearningLab educational program is to kick off August 2020 with a series of tutorials focusing exclusively on the company’s GLM loudspeaker manager software. Titled “6 steps to creating your Sonic Reference,” the training sessions will also be used to unveil GLM 4 – the newest 64-bit version of the software – which is currently in a public beta test phase prior to its official global launch. GLM software was recently updated to support the brand's latest 8351B and 8361 coaxial three-way monitors and the complementary W371 Adaptive Woofer System.
