Following the fast ramping success of the WiiM Pro and WiiM Pro Plus music streamers, followed recently by the WiiM Amp integrated streaming amplifier, the brand created by Linkplay Technology now travels to Munich to appeal directly to the most demanding user community with two new higher spec'ed and slightly higher priced models. Premiered at the High End 2024 show, the new WiiM Ultra and WiiM Amp Pro streamers cater to those seeking to connect the whole home with affordable, high-quality sound.
Looking to deliver enhanced performance for smart home experiences, WiiM launched two new upgraded, higher performance streamers with the WiiM Ultra and the WiiM Amp Pro. The two new designs benefit from a new ESS DAC with improved SNR>120dB and THD+N <0.0002% measured on the analog audio output. There is also built-in room correction technology on both models.
"We are thrilled to introduce the WiiM Ultra and the WiiM Amp Pro to our growing lineup of smart home audio products," says Lifeng Zhao, CEO of WiiM. "Our team has worked tirelessly to develop these cutting-edge devices that deliver exceptional value to our customers. We believe these products will set a new standard for smart home audio and further solidify WiiM's position as a leader in the industry."
The WiiM Ultra features a vibrant 3.5" full-color touchscreen, a physical volume knob, and a rich selection of new audio inputs and outputs for even more vibrant and hi-res sound. Additionally, it seamlessly connects with a wide range of devices including turntables, TVs, headphones, AV receivers, subwoofers, smart speakers, Bluetooth headsets, and more, offering a comprehensive and versatile audio solution. The WiiM Ultra supports multiple audio formats, adds advanced high-resolution audio capabilities, and seamlessly integrates with popular streaming services, making it a versatile addition to any smart audio setup.
Upgraded connectivity options include HDMI ARC, Line-In, Phono-in, and Optical Inputs, along with Line-Out, Optical, Coaxial, USB, Subwoofer, and dedicated Headphone output port. The update DAC section now uses a premium 32-bit/384kHz ES9038 Q2M Sabre converter, while the wireless audio capabilities are updated with latest Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 with two antennas offering rock-solid Bluetooth or Wi-Fi audio streaming.
The new elegant aluminum case with a 3.5" vibrant touchscreen display covered with glass is able to display App widgets, large album pictures, playback control, playing queue, presets, EQ, audio input and output, and device settings. It also guides users through the setup and OTA updates experience. The WiiM Ultra interface also provides feedback when there’s a change in the play mode, and allows users to customize the wallpaper and display the time and date during standby mode.
WiiM Amp Pro
The new WiiM Amp Pro is an upgraded version of the recently released WiiM Amp, based on customer feedback. With high-performance components, advanced signal processing, and enhanced wireless connectivity, it offers an unparalleled wireless audio experience. Users can effortlessly integrate it with classic passive speakers, TV setup, or a vintage record player for seamless audio streaming. The amplifier's compact form factor also features minor cosmetic updates to the knob buttons, status LED and volume LEDs and metal rear as well as redesigned internal circuits.
The WiiM Amp Pro isn't just an integrated amplifier. It's a 2-in-1 solution for a home's audio ecosystem, now including an improved TI TPA3255 Class-D amplifier stage, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 wireless with two antennas, and the updated premium 32-bit/384kHz ES9038 Q2M Sabre DAC. It also includes built-in room correction allowing users to take precise acoustic measurements of their room to create customized corrections for the connected speaker and subwoofer.
Packing 60 Watts per channel at 8 ohms, or 120 Watts per channel at 4 ohms, the new WiiM Amp Pro can power up to four speakers, providing improved audio fidelity with an additional post-filter feedback (PFFB) loop.
As with all of WiiM’s products, users can easily control their streaming preference from the WiiM Home App, or if they prefer to use voice control, WiiM has compatibility with assistants such as Siri, Alexa and Google. The WiiM Voice Remote controller provides another alternative to wireless control and comfort for WiiM products.
Both, the WiiM Ultra and WiiM Amp Pro streamers, can effortlessly cast music from any music app using Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Alexa Cast, DLNA, Spotify Connect, and TIDAL Connect. The app allows users to seamlessly manage their content and devices via the WiiM Home App, and access music services such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Deezer, Qobuz, TIDAL, Pandora, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, SoundCloud, and more.
The WiiM Ultra will be available later in May 2024 for $329, and the Amp Pro for $369 in Q3, both directly on Amazon and select retail partners
