Voicemod Creates Real-Time Voice Changer Hardware Device for Gaming Consoles and Mobile Platforms

Voicemod, the company that originally created voice-altering effects for gaming and online chat boards, later evolved its software to enable real-time AI-voice transform and synthetic voices, and now ported that same voice changer technology to dedicated hardware. Voicemod Key is a real-time AI voice transformation device that brings the Voicemod experience from PCs now also to gaming consoles, smartphones and tablets.

As a leading provider of voice changer and soundboard software for gamers, streamers, content creators, and anyone looking to supercharge their voice online, Voicemod allows users to easily change their voice in real-time. The Voicemod app for Windows and Mac offers hundreds of AI voice options and a soundboard of over 150,000 sounds.

With more than 45 million downloads and millions of users, Voicemod enhances online interactions with unparalleled self-expression and creativity... integral to how a new generation of users communicate in gaming, streaming, and other online spaces. Which helps explain why support for Voicemod on gaming consoles, mobile devices, and tablets became the company's most requested feature.

"Our community has long requested the ability to access the full Voicemod experience on game consoles, mobile devices and tablets," says Jaime Bosch, co-founder and CEO of Voicemod.

Traditionally, however, platforms like PlayStation, Xbox, iOS, and Android do not provide developers with system-level access to their sound input features. This limitation has restricted universal voice changers to Windows PCs and Macs. And that is what motivated Voicemod to design its first hardware product to overcome this barrier, enabling users to access Voicemod's full feature set across all their devices.
Voicemod Key is a low-cost USB dongle that unlocks real-time voice changing on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo gaming consoles, and all iOS and Android devices. As the company explains, the hardware solution "unlocks a wealth of new audio experiences, enabling gamers to fully embody their in-game characters, friends to connect and express themselves through the latest audio memes, and streamers to engage with audiences in innovative ways using audio. For example, users can chat on WhatsApp while playing FIFA on their PlayStation, use in-game voice chat while playing Fortnite on any of their consoles or tablets, talk with friends on PartyChat while playing any game on PlayStation, or connect on Discord through both PlayStation and Xbox."

Voicemod designed the Key hardware for simplicity and ease of use. In console mode, users attach the dongle to their smartphone or tablet via a USB-C or Lightning port, then connect both their headset and console to the two available ports on the dongle. This setup allows for complete voice changer and soundboard functionality during console voice chat and in-game chat. In mobile mode, users attach the dongle to their smartphone or tablet and connect their headset. This enables Voicemod functionality while socializing on any mobile chat app.

Voicemod Key, with support for console mode only, will soon be available for registered beta testers. A wider release is planned for later this year in the USA, followed by Europe, bundled as part of a multi-platform Voicemod Pro subscription. A second version of Voicemod Key, supporting both console and mobile modes, will be available early in 2025.

Voicemod also offers its SDK to extend its voice changer technology to other companies, enabling Voicemod functionality to be integrated into third-party products to enhance user engagement and increase retention. Voicemod was the first in its category to earn Fairly Trained certification for ethically trained AI speech and singing models. The company is headquartered in Valencia, Spain, with offices in the US and Asia.
