RME Introduces Windows 11 ARM 64-bit Drivers for All RME USB Interfaces

January 15 2025, 02:10
With Microsoft’s enhanced emulation technology for native Windows apps, current ARM laptops are now ready for professional audio production. However, audio is a unique domain where driver emulation is not an option. To meet this challenge RME has developed WDM and ASIO drivers that are fully compatible with Windows 11 ARM 64-bit, unlocking the potential of Snapdragon X-CPU chipsets from Qualcomm.

Since its foundation in 1996, RME has been recognized as a leading manufacturer of professional audio solutions, and in particular for its robust driver support for Windows PCs. Recently, the world of PCs was shaken by the appearance of a line of Arm-based processors designed for laptops. Qualcomm is already in its second generation of Snapdragon X chips, trying to achieve the same level of performance gains that Apple achieved when it migrated from Intel to its own Arm-based line of Apple Silicon processors. And for Qualcomm this journey is just starting.

RME’s new drivers are designed to ensure seamless integration with these latest computing platforms across all the USB interfaces ever created by the company, dating back to the Fireface UC from 2009. With support for more than 27 devices, RME ARM drivers extend the functionality of legacy products to modern hardware, enabling users to explore the full potential of Snapdragon ARM systems without compromising on audio quality or performance – 100% compatible with the latest feature set of RME drivers and TotalMix FX.

The new MADIface / USB series driver works with x64 Intel computers as well as current Snapdragon X ARM notebooks running Windows 11. WDM and ASIO drivers are available in 32-bit and 64-bit configuration, offering full cross-compatibility with effortless switching between the former and new 64-bit drivers on Intel systems.

With this announcement, RME once again demonstrates its leadership in the audio industry by becoming the first company to provide a comprehensive suite of compatible and stable ARM drivers covering not only the latest but all their interfaces. Additionally, a single driver package supports both x64 and ARM with an identical feature set in all details.

“This achievement underscores RME’s unwavering commitment to delivering innovative and long lasting solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. Guided by the RME philosophy, we prioritize long-term support ensuring a seamless and reliable experience across our entire product lineup including legacy devices,” the company stated.
