iZotope, the Boston experts in audio processing technology announce that RX 10, the software audio repair suite, is now available. Ozone 10, the company's flagship mastering suite, follows on September 13. Both updates add tools with increased intelligence, making it easier and faster to get professional-quality results — while still allowing full controls for those who prefer the manual approach. The updates on these two iZotope suites clearly reflect a growing trend on "automatic" software tools that relay on AI/ML.
Built on decades of research, iZotope's RX 10 is a complete toolkit for audio clean-up in music and audio post production. From analyzing audio capture and production issues to providing advanced audio processing solutions, the RX suite speeds up editing workflows, salvages poor audio that was once unfixable, and delivers reliably clear sound quality. The new updated software added native Apple silicon support, and now includes Text Navigation, and Multiple Speaker Detection features.
New for this version of RX 10 is a complete rebuild for the Repair Assistant Plug-in, using machine learning to automatically recognize specific problems and intelligently propose fixes that users can modify to taste. The software also adds Dynamic Adaptive Mode in De-Hum, saving time removing hums and buzzes from recordings with a new Adaptive mode that automatically eliminates complex noise that changes pitch, like electromagnetic interference, without sacrificing quality (not included in the basic Elements version). For recordings made on mobile phones or non-studio-grade recording equipment, the Spectral Recovery tools was updated to enable matching other recordings in a specific production or reference track. The new version improves upon the quality of re-synthesized upper frequencies and can now add missing lower frequencies, too. (Advanced only). iZotope also improved Selection Feathering, to make smoother edits in both the time and the frequency domain (not included in the basic Elements version).
Regarding the Ozone 10 mastering software suite, iZotope added even more AI/ML technologies that help users match the sound of their reference recordings on the latest chart-topping hits. iZotope recognizes that what its user base increasingly wants is to be able to compare different results to match or differentiate from the way certain production sounds. AI engines and trained models allow exactly that, leaving to the discerning user the option to accept, modify or simply reject the results. The new update version adds native Apple silicon support, and introduces a slightly refreshed user interface.
New in Ozone 10 is the Stabilizer Module that allows users to sculpt the sound with a new intelligent and adaptive mastering EQ to dynamically shape a mix, tame problem areas such as resonances, harshness, os aggressive transients for better translation across listening environments. Also new is the Impact Module, allowing users to enhance the rhythm and feel of tracks by intuitively controlling four sliders across different frequency bands to breathe life into a mix, adding punch and dynamic space, or "gluing" a track together for a thicker sound. Both these new features are available in the Advanced software only.
Included in the Standard and Advanced packages of iZotope Ozone 10 is the improved Master Assistant, which allows matching the sound of trusted reference files or today’s hit songs with new matching technology. An updated Assistant View makes it faster than ever to customize a starting point, while the Tonal Balance curve allows for easy metering. Other tools also included in these packages include the new Magnify Soft Clip setting in the Maximizer module, to boost loudness while maintaining high fidelity, and Recover Sides in the Imager module, to reduce stereo width without losing the mono information.
RX 10 is available now with introductory pricing valid through October 11, 2022, starting at $799 USD for RX10 Advanced, and Ozone 10 has an introductory pricing through October 20, 2022 of $299 USD for Ozone 10 Advanced. Existing users have further discounts and need to check their account for specific offers.
